Wave Chaser took advantage of the cancelled I-SUP Illawarra Comp this morning to join in with the local crew and test a few new boards. We had fun on the New Wave Chaser GTRs and RVs despite the gusty southerly 💨🏄😎

Jason Barbour for 50’s Surf and Rebecca Dunning for 40’s women Surf. Blair Moore, Storm Wheatley, Madeline Rayner, Lisa Cross, Rebecca Dunning and Paul Lomas all made finals for their respective divisions. Scott Burton came 8th in the technical race.

Michael Williams picked up his Wave Chaser 9' RX last Friday and gave it a performance test at Manly this week. His qualified feedback goes into the design of Wave Chaser performance SUPs.

Wave Chaser RX Nose Rider SUPs are designed for competition level longboard SUP performance. As the title suggests, they’re Nose Riding weapons. The RX is super narrow with a refined nose shape and a bottom that features a rolled convex nose onto mid V through to double concave. Above all, this board is all designed for controlled speed and to hold high in the pocket under the lip curl for that potential hang 10!

Thickness and rail shape have been tuned for high performance, with pinched "60/40" rails providing enhanced pocket hold, drive and agility, particularly noticeable in quality point like waves, where speed and faster rail to rail transitions are vitally important. These boards are designed to maneuver with agility from a mid to rear surfing position.

Wave Chaser 4 + 1 fin set up allows for multiple options across the full spectrum of wave conditions. Ride as twinny, quad, single or place the side thrusters in the forward boxes for amazing small wave maneuverability and place them in the back quad boxes for speed control and longer, drawn out, power turns in larger waves.

Wave Chaser SS is a fast and furious squash square tail designed for competition level performance in average to good quality waves.

Based on a high-performance short surfboard, the SS has less area in the nose with a wide point south of center towards the tail. Underneath, there’s our signature Wave Chaser convex nose transitioning into a V double concave, when combined with this outline, the bottom contours enhance performance, pivotal, top to bottom surfing. The squash square tail, with extra kick, enables fast tail whip & release desired by performance surfers.

Wave Chaser tri/quad fin placements allow for multiple fin options to cover the full spectrum of surfable waves. Our forward fins are set close to rail, and the rears are strategically positioned to provide stability and drive without limiting release.

Wave Chaser is adopting more sustainable production initiatives, from power use, efficient material handling; shaping, layup, fusion, and finishing techniques and processes, whilst using more environmentally friendly materials to develop high quality, high performance, Surf, SUP & Foil boards.

Wave Chaser boards are made with 100% recyclable Expanded Poly Styrene (EPS), a lighter and more buoyant foam than traditional surfboard Polyurethane (PU) foam, and Epoxy resin which has a much higher tensile strength and superior bonding properties than Polyester resin, enabling less material use for a stronger laminate. Compared with PU foam and Polyester resin, EPS and Epoxy require less energy to produce, and less harmful associated chemicals are used in the manufacturing process.

Welcome to the Central Coast SUP Club.
What an exciting time for the sport here on the beautiful Central Coast of New South Wales.

Having had the privilege of mixing with SUP association members from other clubs, I have seen first hand what a club can do with regards to bringing together a surfing community, the camaraderie that is built, the positive social aspect and the impact that local competition has on improving confidence and ability in its members.

That is what I want for the Central Coast and that is why this club has been established.

Starting as a casual conversation on a north coast surf trip last April, a lot of work has gone into getting the club up and running since then, and I thank our hard-working committee for their dedication and commitment. We still have a lot of work to do as we finalise getting the club ready to open for membership in December.

What do we plan on doing?
SUP surfing competitions here on the Central Coast is first on the agenda and, in very exciting news, we have secured approval from Central Coast Council to run competition events in 2024.
Look out for the competition calendar which will be posted here shortly.

Distance paddling competitions are also in the planning as are club social days.
Again, a lot of work to do between now and our first event and the committee is full steam ahead with making this, and all our events, a success.

What can you do to help?
Become a member.
Clubs are nothing without its members. We are an inclusive club and I personally invite all Stand-up Paddlers from across the Central Coast to join the club.
Sign up for a comp.
Don’t be daunted - we are all weekend warriors, and these comps are designed for fun and enjoyment and the camaraderie that competition brings. I can guarantee you that as you exit the water after your first ever heat, being able to call yourself a competitive SUP surfer or distance racer, your confidence along with your ability will begin to grow rapidly.
Come along to the social events.
The aim of a club is to bring like-minded people together. Come and meet some fellow SUP enthusiasts, go for a social paddle, have a sausage sandwich and a cool beverage while talking boards and paddles and fins, rails and tails and secret spots with your new SUP clubmates.
Simply get involved.

Events need volunteers so put your hand up to assist where you can. Help with setup and pull down, judging surfing competitions (we will show you how!!!), organising and assisting with heats and races, showing your skills on the barbecue, putting up ideas for social paddles and locations – plenty of things for people to assist with so please let the committee know if you are available.
Follow along with us on our socials for news and events and look out for the club photographer, who will be getting around to known locations to snap some pics for the social sites.

Lastly, funding is vital to the club, and we are on the hunt for sponsors. So, if you know of a business, or perhaps have a business of your own, that would like to provide some sponsorship of the club, please contact myself or one of the committee members.

Strong Southerly winds backed off a tad on Sat morning, glassing off the point and smoothing the face of nice runners like this. When you jag a wave like this at the point at my age you tend to turn more cautiously, that's my excuse anyway 😅 The more agile guys can mind surf the hell out of these stills. I'll use them to analyse my board performance for future shapes...enjoy your day 😎

Round One of the I-SUP Illawarra SUP Surfing Club comp was held today in challenging Warilla closeouts. The odd wave scored reasonably well, with Ray Hughes and Rebecca Dunning scoring the best today and winning overall! The attendance and level of competition at I-SUP events is constantly growing. Well done to everyone involved!
