Barisal Village Development Organisation (BVDO) was established in 1998 for support and development of the disadvantaged people emphasizing empowerment of village women. Since its inception it has been working in the remotest areas, especially with the women. It is located Agailjhara of Barisal district which is in the South – West belt of Bangladesh. It is registered with NGO Bureau Affairs and Department of Social Welfare. The peoples of this area are really disadvantaged. They are very poor. They do not have alternative sources of income generating activities rather than agriculture. The main focus of development interventions has been to women's group formation, human rights, education, water and sanitation and micro-credit.
