Greetings SAC Alumni,
It's been a while since we last connected, and I'm excited to share some updates with you:
SAC Alumni Tuition Grants and Scholarships: We've chosen the recipients for our SAC Alumni Tuition Grants and Scholarships, but we need more funds to support deserving students. While $25,000 is substantial, it's not enough to assist all the students who applied. Please consider contributing to help us reach our goal of $100,000 for next year. If each class could commit to donating at least $5000 annually, we could make a significant impact together. Let's show our love for SAC through our generosity.
Congratulations to the SAC Track Team: Congratulations to the SAC Track Team on their victory at Nationals this weekend! We appreciate Principal Marici Thompson and our exceptional coaches' leadership in securing another win. The relay teams are heading to the Penn Relays next week, and we're seeking funds to support the athletes and coaches. Please reach out to us or Dawn Woodside to make a contribution.
Dues Collection: We're still collecting dues, and we'll announce the class with the highest registration up to March 2024 at our Meet and Greet Happy Hour, tentatively scheduled for May 31, 2204. Your support through dues is crucial for our ongoing efforts. We've also appointed a volunteer for the Alumni Office and will soon announce the office hours for dues payment and merchandise purchases. We aim to have membership cards printed by the end of May.
Event Support: If your class is hosting an event and would like support from the SAC Alumni Body, please send us your event flyer, and we'll gladly share it. We encourage you to attend the SAC Class of 1974 Souse-out on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 7:30 am to 12 noon on SAC Campus. For tickets, please get in touch with Andrian Cargill or any of his committee members.
SAC Pride Day: Mark your calendars for SAC Pride Day on Friday, May 31, 2024. Wear red or SAC paraphernalia and post a picture for a chance to win a treat! The winner will also be announced at our evening meet and greet event.
Business Advertising and Networking: If you own a business and want to advertise with the SAC Alumni Association, please email us. Let's network and support each other, especially by offering discounts to our financial members.
These updates reflect the ongoing commitment and support of our SAC Alumni community. Thank you for your continued involvement and generosity.
Warm regards,
Anastasia Brown, President
SAC Alumni Association

Dr. Anastasia Brown, President of SACA
Today, the SAC Alumni Association, spearheaded by President Dr. Anastasia Brown and Vice-President Osbourne Moxey, extended a courtesy visit to St. Augustine’s College High School, engaging with Principal Ms. Marici Thompson and Vice-Principal Benedict Dorsette. President Brown reiterated the association's enduring commitment to collaborate and bolster the school across various fronts. A primary objective is to raise $25,000 in scholarships through alum donations and the annual Lighthouse Awards and Gala Ball. Additionally, a minimum of $5,000 is earmarked to alleviate the expenses linked to BAISS. President Brown and Principal Thompson reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing the SAC community and fortifying connections with the SAC Alumni Association. This promises a promising and mutually beneficial partnership, fostering productivity and advancement. President Brown further announced that $25,000 from the proceeds of the 2023 Lighthouse Award and Gala Ball are now accessible for SAC students to apply.
Attention all current students of SAC! The SAC Alumni Association is excited to announce that our Financial Aid and Tuition Grant program applications are now open. If you're in need of financial assistance, we encourage you to apply. Applications can be found on the SAC Alumni website at https://thesacalumniassociation.org/get-involved/tuition-grants/. The deadline for submission is March 15, 2024. Don't miss out on this opportunity!
The 2024 Lighthouse Award and Gala Ball Committee is now in full swing with its inaugural initiative. Traditionally, the committee selects a theme each year, but for this edition, they have decided to involve our esteemed alumni in the decision-making process. We invite you, our valued alumni, to contribute your ideas for the theme that the SAC Alumni Association will adopt for 2024. To submit your entry, please email it to [email protected], including your name, graduation year, and phone contact. You can submit multiple entries to increase your chances of winning the cash prize.
Stay tuned for the following upcoming events:
1.Opening of the scholarship application
2.Opening of nominations for candidates for The SAC Alumni Lighthouse Award

*Dr Hubert Minnis Prepares to Release First of Three Books*
November 20, 202391
Prime Minister The Most Hon. Dr. Hubert A. Minnis proudly presents his first memoir, “The Power of Determination.”
In the book, Dr.Minnis vividly recounts the struggles he faced growing up, emphasizing the value of tenacity and ambition in the face of adversity.
This remarkable book is the initial installment in a series of insightful accounts from the life of a medical professional, Member of Parliament,
Cabinet Minister, Leader of the Opposition and Prime Minister, whose unwavering resolve has left an indelible mark on both his career and
personal journey.
“My memoir emphasizes the importance of being determined to make the right choices early in life. These choices will lead you toward your
destiny,” Dr. Minnis said.
One of the most compelling chapters of the book delves into Dr. Minnis’ educational journey, highlighting his perseverance and commitment to excellence. He narrates his international odyssey to pursue a medical degree and the rigorous training he undertook, revealing the
unrelenting dedication that defined his path.
However, what sets “The Power of Determination” apart is its dual purpose. Dr. Minnis takes the reader on a poignant journey, sharing his
experiences growing up in an impoverished community and the unrelenting perseverance that propelled him towards achieving many of his life’s goals.
Yet it doesn’t merely recount Dr. Minnis’ extraordinary life; it serves as an inspiration for readers seeking to find their own inner strength.
The pages are adorned with a treasure trove of motivational quotes and insightful explanations, helping readers develop a relentless determination to pursue their dreams, regardless of the odds.
Throughout the memoir, Dr. Minnis seamlessly weaves in inspirational quotes and explanations, providing invaluable insights and guidance to
help readers ignite their own determination and take control of their destinies.
“The Power of Determination” is the first of three books and will be available in Hard Back, Paper Back and as an e-book. In the words of Dr. Minnis, “You cannot value dreams according to their odds of coming true. Their real value is in having the will to move onward and upward.”
*This groundbreaking memoir will be released during a specially planned book launch scheduled for next month in early December 2023 here in Nassau, Bahamas. As part of the launch series of events, there will also be two book signing opportunities where the general public will have an opportunity to interact with Dr Minnis as well purchase autographed copies of book.*
In addition to local bookstores, “The Power of Determination” will also be available online at retail website Amazon, and it is set to make its mark in the literary world. Stay tuned for more installments in Dr. Hubert A. Minnis’ series of memoirs, as he continues to share his remarkable story and insights.
