SHAREABLE SATURDAY: As we say good-bye to summer, here is one last fun and colourful idea. Share your ideas with us by sending them to [email protected] Like us & share.
Fun Fact Friday: September’s full moon has cast a beautiful golden spell over our skies and is at peak right now. Even though we are still experiencing hot summer type weather our moon is telling us that we are now in a phase of transition from one season to the next. These warm summer evenings will soon come to an end and sweater weather will soon be upon us. September’s full moon has been known as the Harvest moon. It got its’ name because it happens right at the beginning of the harvest season before winter starts. The bright moonlight was known to assist farmer’s in harvesting crops right into the wee hours of the night. This year’s moon will seem even more golden as it lights up our night sky. On Tuesday September 17 at 10:34 pm the harvest moon and partial eclipse were a rare double event. It was visible to many parts of the globe and this event elevated the Harvest moon to be called a supermoon. So if you have not had a chance yet to enjoy, take a minute tonight and look up…oh what a wonderful world it is.

Fun fact Friday: Friday the 13th…why is it unlucky? If you didn’t know, the meaning is based on the story of the last supper of Jesus. The number 13 is associated with the 13 people seated at the table which took place on a Thursday. Jesus was arrested that night, and crucified the next day, on a Friday. Some of the superstitions that are common knowledge could lead to many years of bad luck, such as breaking a mirror can lead to 7 years of misfortune. If you are a believer don’t walk under a ladder and be cautious when a black cat crosses your path because just about any situation or circumstance that happens today will be blamed on this very date. I guess a classic superstition never dies…

FUN FACT FRIDAY: The egg, a very versatile food that can be eaten any time of the day. Did you ever wonder about the colour of the egg you consume? Did you know that the eggshell colour depends on the breed of the hen? In general, white shell eggs come from hens with white feathers, while brown shell eggs are produced by hens with brown feathers. Nutritionally they are identical unless feed has been enhanced for specialty eggs with Omega-3. Now have you ever seen eggs with an exterior shell colour such as blue or green? This is very common when buying organic farm eggs. Certain breeds, such as Araucanas, the Azur, and the Olive, carry genetic variations that allow for the deposit of biliverdin which results in the blue and green eggshells. Tinted eggs are a result of cross breeding of chickens that lay brown and white eggs. Shell colour aside an egg is an amazing source of protein.
Have yourself a wonderful Friday! I am so EGG-CITED for the weekend. Please take the time to rest and recharge and perhaps crack an egg or two for brekkie tomorrow! 🍳
