Fun facts from the mouth of Mary Wuergler:
I gotta start my day with 2 cups of coffee with salt and organic cream…what??
I love to kayak in summer and winter…if the lake’s not frozen over, the paddles are in the water!
A big hello from Switzerland where I lived for 7 years:
· French: Bonjour à tous
· Swiss-German: Tschau zahme
My day is always brightened by a visit from my grand baby…he’s as cute as a button
I love, love, love teaching English and helping you along your English-language journey!
Today we are showcasing Hazza A. from UAE and Pavina S. from Laos who are learners in our Level 8.1 class taking the GNED credit course, Ojibwe in lieu of their Level 7 & 8 elective. Pavina came to Canada because she heard that the education here was top notch and Hazza wants to get a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education. They both challenged themselves and enrolled in Ojibwe Language and Culture course for the summer which will award them a GNED credit before they even start their post-secondary programs! Both Hazza and Pavina wanted to learn more about Indigenous history in Canada. As Hazza says, "If you know a language, you will know a culture, and if you know the culture, you will know the person who is standing in front of you." We are very proud that both these learners are doing so well in our EAP program, and outside of it.
Congratulations to Bryan in Level 5 who won today's contest! He received a $25 gift card to the Georgian Dining Room. We still haven't heard from any online students. You can still win if you read the last post.

Congratulations to Jennifer in Level 6 who was the first to answer the difference between effect and affect. She won a $25 Subway gift card. Still waiting for the online winner....Next week it could be you!
The first person on campus who can visit Virginia in her office in A218 to explain the difference between “affect” and “effect” and show us that you have liked and are following us, will get a prize.
The first person, online, who can send Virginia an email explaining the difference between “affect” and “effect” and show us that you have liked and are following us, will get a prize. BE SURE your response is in your own words (not AI or Google Translate).
