Meadowsweet album project part 2 has officially begun.

We’ve been a little quiet on here of late, but are looking forward to an exciting year ahead! Next month we head back into the studio to start work on the second half of our album with . We are in love with our next batch of tracks and excited to share our project with you. Stay tuned for updates and perhaps a couple of show dates!

Merry Christmas from Lynsey & Alice ❤️

Had a fun morning with recording an interview for 💛 chatting about our music and our recent single The Sound of Coming Home. Segment will air on Monday, 18th December. We’ll send you all a reminder the day before ha ha!

The second single we released is “Anchor (Carleigh’s Song)”. We are both fairly new to Calgary and this song represents the beautiful friendships we have made in this town and the feeling of belonging and community we have found. We love the bluegrass sound of this track and had a blast recording it with 💛

We had a blast at the in Rosebud this weekend! Heard some wonderful music and met some great people! Also Rosebud is the cutest town ever. Thank you for having us! 💛

Our new single To A Child is now available on all streaming platforms. The Spotify link is in our bio.

This song is a bit different from our usual style, and it’s an especially meaningful one for us. The lyrics are from a poem by Sophie Jewett, written over 100 years ago, about losing a baby during childbirth. We both experienced miscarriages this year during the recording process. We hope this song can be a source of consolation and hope for some, as it has been for us.
This will be the last song you’ll hear from us for a while, until we release our full album in the spring.

We‘ve been chosen by Calgary Arts Development for their Project Development Grant! We are extremely grateful for this exciting opportunity, which will enable us to expand our current recording project to a full length album with Wheelhouse Sound. We are looking forward to sharing more music with you in the spring!

The Sound of Coming Home is a kind of tribute to our kids. We love them, and they drive us bonkers. The image of “coming home” comes from Alice’s own childhood memories of falling asleep on drives home from Grandma’s house, to all the sounds and feelings that come with the familiar road home.

Today marks the final day of the global pregnancy and infant awareness week. An important day for so many of us; a day where we can share in our collective grief and remember the babies we didn’t get to bring home in our arms. Our latest single To a Child was adapted from a poem written in the early 1900’s by Sophie Jewett. The poem is interpreted by many as being written from her own depths of sorrow during a miscarriage. As fate would have it we recorded this song during a time of pregnancy loss for both of us, earlier this year. This turned out to be so incredibly difficult but ultimately resulted in something we feel proud of and healed by.

We know that sharing our losses can feel vulnerable and scary. Many don’t respond how we expect or even need them to. They don’t understand these losses and can’t relate to how they affect us. It affects relationships, friendships: whole lives. But it’s important to know that we are not alone in this kind of grief; we are strong in our collective pain.

Our hope is that you can take comfort in her words and find peace in our music, all the while knowing our babies mattered. Tonight we will light a candle at 7pm local time to hold space in our lives for each and every one of them 💛
