Every young person can achieve success. From lemonade stands to raking leaves, they are exploring ways to earn a little extra money and have fun doing it.

With the support of volunteers and donors, JA Southern Alberta provides work readiness, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship education at no cost to youth in grades 3 -12 JASA brings youth in grades 3-12 together with volunteers from the business community, to learn about financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship through a number of graduated programs. Susan Anderson, Mike Broadfoot, and Brett Wilson will be inducted into the Alberta Business Hall of Fame – Southern Alberta at the 20th Annual Gala Dinner & Induction Ceremony on November 5, 2024.

We are currently looking for dedicated volunteers to mentor Company Program students!

Company Program is an exciting hands-on program that allows students to experience the risks and rewards of entrepreneurship by starting and operating an after-school business.

As a Company Program mentor you will:

• Gain professional experience and confidence
• Share your business knowledge and experiences with students
• Promote personal growth and your own self-esteem
• Help strengthen your community and the youth that will one day be running the business world

This program runs from October 24, 2023, to March 2024. The time commitment is one day a week from 6:00pm - 9:00pm, and you choose which day works best for you at a venue of your choice!

JA Southern Alberta is hiring a High School Program Coordinator.

Reporting to the Manager of Calgary Programs, the High School Program Coordinator (HS Coordinator) is responsible for the coordination and implementation of JA high school programs and events in Calgary, including: the Personal Finance program, Be Entrepreneurial program, and World of Choices events. The HS Coordinator will also assist with the coordination of events related to the Company Program.

This year we had a total of 24 companies who made over $23,000.00 in profit.

$2,121.00 of this was donated to charity.

On Tuesday, May 16th, we hosted our second in-person World of Choices event at Red Deer Polytechnic.

We are thrilled to share that throughout the day we delivered 24 World of Choices sessions with 4 "WOC Talks" to over 200 students across Central and East Central Alberta.

The event also featured 31 careers from various industries.

This is an extremely impactful event and we are grateful for everyone who participated and supported.
