YM Calgary organized a two-day youth retreat camp at Nordegg Shunda Creek, offering an enriching experience for all participants. The youth gained valuable insights from Shaikh Iqbal Gora's talks in the halqa, enjoyed hiking, and strengthened their networks with peers.

The joy and excitement among the youth were palpable, and they expressed a strong desire to join similar camps repeatedly. A big thank you to all the dedicated volunteers who made this wonderful venture possible.

The ICNA Calgary Chapter extends heartfelt gratitude to Mainstreet Equity Corp for their exceptional support and cooperation in organizing the remarkable Stampede breakfast event. It was heartening to witness a large turnout from neighboring buildings, where everyone enjoyed a delicious breakfast and received literature on basic Islamic information.

The truly amazing part is that our dedicated volunteers accomplished this feat beautifully in just three days of preparation. May Allah accept their selfless efforts and noble intentions to foster community connections. Ameen.

**East Village Street Fair on Canada Day**

The ICNA Calgary Chapter arranged two stalls at the East Village Street Fair on Canada Day to share the message of Islam and provide basic information about Muslims, the Quran, and the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Hundreds of people visited the stalls. Kids enjoyed free candies, stickers, and balloons, while women appreciated the henna and temporary tattoos. Many visitors also took pamphlets, booklets, and copies of Quran translations.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all our volunteers who dedicated their time to this cause.

It was a great honor for the ICNA Calgary Chapter to host a lecture by Dr. Idrees Zubair, Director of the Al-Huda Welfare Foundation, on the topic of "Mission of Life."
His lecture inspired attendees to reflect on how we should live our lives and what our goals should be to achieve success in the hereafter.
During the Q&A session, participants gained a deeper understanding of the importance of fostering strong relationships and being well-wishers for all.

*The Day of Arafah,*
which falls on the ninth day of Dhul Hijjah, is regarded as the most significant day of the Islamic year.
Here are some compelling reasons to fast on the Day of Arafah:
**Perfection of Islam:** It marks the day when the religion of Islam was perfected.
**Prophet's Last Sermon:** It is the day when the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) delivered his final sermon.
*Release from Hell:*On this day, Allah (SWT) liberates countless souls from Hell.
*Essence of Hajj:*It represents the very essence of the Hajj pilgrimage.
*Divine Descent*It is the day when Allah (SWT) descends to the lowest heaven.
*Atonement of Sins:*Fasting on this day wipes away sins, as the following hadith illustrates: "Fasting on the Day of Arafah expiates the sins of the past and coming year." (Muslim).
*Favorable Act of Worship:*Fasting is among the most beloved acts of worship to Allah (SWT).

Dear community members:

The first ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah (Zulhajjah) hold significant importance in the Islamic calendar, especially for Muslims preparing for the Hajj pilgrimage. These days are considered among the most sacred, and several key religious practices and observances are associated with them:

**Day of Arafah**: The 9th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, considered one of the holiest days in Islam. Pilgrims stand in prayer on the Plain of Arafah, and non-pilgrims observe fasting, which is highly recommended.

**Fasting**: Fasting on the first nine days, especially on the Day of Arafah, is a practice many Muslims observe to gain spiritual rewards and purification.

**Eid al-Adha**: The 10th day marks the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorating the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son Ismail (Ishmael) in obedience to God's command. Muslims around the world perform the sacrificial ritual of Qurbani, distributing meat to the needy.

Assalam O Alaikum.
In an incredible display of unity and compassion, ICNA Calgary (www.icnacalgary.ca) and the Muslim community of Calgary came together on October 21, 2023, to host a Potluck Fundraiser for Palestine. Held at the Akram Jomaa Masjid Gym, this event was a heartwarming testament to the impact of a united community.

The event, held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., featured inspirational speaker Senior Imam Jamal Hamoud, who delivered words of wisdom and motivation to all in attendance. What made this fundraiser truly special was the potluck aspect, where attendees brought homemade dishes, symbolizing community, togetherness, and shared responsibility.

Registration was streamlined through an online form, simplifying the process for attendees. The response was overwhelming, with hundreds of community members committing to the cause.

What's even more remarkable is the diversity of communities that came together for this event. Families from various communities, including the Nigerian, Algerian, Bengali, Bosnian, Syrian, Morocco, Egyptian, Somalian, Palestine, Sudanese, Indian Muslims, Pakistani, and more, joined hands in solidarity for Gaza/Palestine. While some communities couldn't participate due to time constraints, their absence didn't dim the spirit of unity.

The results of this Potluck Fundraiser for Palestine were astonishing. In just five days, the ICNA Calgary Chapter, with support from the Muslim community, raised over $50,000, a testament to the collective power of compassion and commitment. As funds continue to pour in, we're reminded of the potential for positive change when people come together with a shared purpose.

May Allah accept the good deeds of all involved and bless their families with abundance and prosperity. Through their generosity and unwavering support, they've shown the world the enduring impact of compassion and unity.

Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), condemns in the strongest possible terms, the bombing of the al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza, today, killing almost 500 patients, doctors, healthcare workers, and hundreds of displaced children and families seeking shelter there, with nowhere else to go.

ICNA calls on President Biden to play his role in establishing immediate ceasefire and reconsider his unconditional support to a government which bombed and killed hundreds of innocent patients, doctors and civilians. This practice of bombing hospitals and sanctuaries is not only tragic, but also a clear violation of international law including the Geneva Conventions and other international humanitarian agreements.

The secretary general of UNO, Mr. António Guterres, World Health Organization (WHO) and several humanitarian agencies immediately condemned the deadly Israeli strike on a Gaza hospital, which it said was “operational with patients, health- and caregivers, and internally displaced people sheltering there.”

ICNA, along with a rising tide of international and humanitarian organizations, calls upon the U.S. and global community of nations to intervene immediately to stop the ongoing violence, indiscriminate killings of the Palestinian civilians in Gaza in an effort of ethnic cleansing.
