teammate spotlight: justin grey

Justin Grey joined as a member of our Teen MMA program many years ago. Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure of seeing him grow as both an athlete and person.

Did you know he competed for Team Canada with us? This warrior even came out with a broken bone in one of his gold medal fights. Swipe for pics!

While his MMA journey has come to a pause, he was just offered a spot with the Calgary Fire Department. The 14-month application process almost felt longer than the 14+ years we’ve known him!

We are so proud of how far Justin has come. We’re grateful to be able to celebrate all of your wins with you, both inside and outside of the cage.

traditional programs for youth

There are no substitutes for hard work and dedication. The earlier our athletes are able to learn that lesson, the more successful they become.

Coach Vince (or Mr. Vince, as our PeeWees call him) has been teaching martial arts for over 40 years. Our traditional program was the foundation of our gym when we started nearly 30 years ago, and the accomplishments of the kids that grew up with us are a reflection of its success.

Sam Khan, age 21, started with us when he was 4. He achieved his black belt in Combatto Libero with us and graduated to become a senior instructor. He is an active fighter on our team and won his last amateur MMA fight with a quick finish in the first round.

Matt Krayco, age 32, is a very familiar name and face in the mixed martial arts community. He started with us at the age of 8, and we’ve been his home ever since. He also achieved his black belt in Combatto Libero, and he has competed in MMA, kickboxing, and boxing for nearly two decades.

This weekend, the boys went 4-0 in Lethbridge.

For amateur fighters, their professionalism was unmatched. We are so proud of how they handled themselves inside and outside of the cage. Davyd, Artsiom, Olson, and Curtis were models of the skill, dedication, respect, and loyalty that we expect to see from our fighters. We could go on for days about their impressive performances, but we’ll save the praise for later.

To and , thank you for your hospitality. Rumble will always be home for us, and this show was an event like no other!

To all of our teammates who made the trip out to Lethbridge or watched from home, we are so grateful for your support. When a teammate wins, we all win. We truly couldn’t do this without you.

Last night, we went 2-0 with two outstanding KO victories. Saeed and Artsiom demonstrated incredible composure and skill in their amateur debuts. We are so proud of the hard work they put in, but we are also excited to watch the footage and reflect on where they can improve.

Thank you to everyone from our Dynamic MMA family that made the drive out to support the team. Without you, victories like these wouldn’t be possible.

We couldn’t be more proud of Justin and Usman. Both men took home victories last night, but a win on their records doesn’t paint the whole picture. These two fighters show up, day in and day out, ready to work. They put their heads down, push through every challenge we offer, and continue to come back for more. They never question, and they never complain. Humility and hard work are the key ingredients. Justin and Usman have demonstrated just how powerful those ingredients can be.

Thank you to everyone who showed up or streamed the fights last night. As Usman said, “We don’t win individually, we win as a team. I am happy we all won together.”

It was a busy weekend for us in Grand Prairie. Four of our athletes travelled to compete in Icon Combat League.

The two youngest athletes on our fight team put on a clinic, victoriously ending both their fights in the first round.

Losses are always unexpected, but we have learned to embrace the growth that comes with them. We were so close to success; we refuse to give up. We are confident that our team will come back faster, stronger, and more motivated than ever after this weekend.

Thank you to Tell, Tosha, and the rest of the team with Icon Combat League for organizing such a great show.

Thank you to Justin and Felipe for coming up and supporting our fighters through the weekend.

Thank you to all the families and friends of our fighters who made the trip to support our team. It is safe to say we have never had 20+ fans in the crowd for such a far trip!

We are hosting another charity sparring marathon! In 2019, we hosted our first sparring marathon. With 42km running marathons in mind, we decided to put our athletes to the test with a sparring marathon–42 back-to-back sparring rounds. Why? For charity, of course!

All proceeds from our marathons go directly to the chosen charity. For this event, all proceeds will go directly to Ruff Start Rescue Society. You can learn more about them here: https://www.ruffstartrescuesociety.com/

What a tournament!

We are so proud of our up-and-coming fighters for their performances. With respect and dominance as our top priorities, this first post-pandemic tournament was a great success.

Congratulations to Daniel, Dawson, Tyson, Carson, Navdeep, and Susanna on their incredible performances.

An additional congratulations goes to Kyle. His matches were so wild (in a good way!), we didn’t have time to snap a pic.
