In June we celebrate Pride Month and National Indigenous History Month. This month recognizes the history, resilience, and diversity of 2SLGBTQI+ and Indigenous communities.
We must also reflect on their ongoing struggle for accessing fair treatment.
Access to justice is a fundamental right for all. But for many Indigenous and 2SLGBTQI+ communities, it is often out of reach.
Discrimination, prejudice, and systemic barriers often stand in the way of seeking justice.
Together, letโs stand for inclusive legal systems that recognize and serve all voices.

Who We Are
Community Legal Information, is a non-profit registered charity. We provide free legal information through our phone line, website, e-mail, publications, and outreach efforts. We also provide lawyer referrals for Islanders who need legal advice and would like to connect with a lawyer. We sell the PEI Uncontested Divorce Kit and the PEI Power of Attorney Kit. We are also available to come to your meeting or event to conduct legal information presentations. There is no cost for presentations, but donations are welcome.
Our goal is to provide Islanders with understandable and useful information about our laws and the justice system. This work is called public legal education and information (PLEI).
In October 1981, the Co-ordinator of the Justice Resource Service of Prince Edward Island brought together people who were interested in the idea of public legal education. They formed a small working committee to look at ways of instituting a PLE program, and in December 1983 they proposed a community based coordinated approach to PLE in PEI.
An interim Board of Directors was appointed in 1984 and the Community Legal Information was established as a non-profit, Part II Company under the PEI Companies Act in January 1985. Our charitable number is 11887 0757 RR 0001.
