Introducing our Summer 2024 staff!!

We are in the middle of Day Camp but we wanted to give an appreciation for our staff! (…we will be posting some highlights from staff training later this week)

While taking these photos we reminisced on the days when our camps could fit on these stairs for photos and now we fill it up with staff (AND THIS ISN’T EVEN ALL OF THEM!!!)

Oh how we’ve grown and how God has been faithful through it all!

🔥 Meet our Summer 2024 Program Team 🔥

Introducing the faces behind the Discipleship Department! Year-round, they run workshops, worship nights, spring break camp & youth retreats. During a couple of months a year they plan and oversee our summer camps, alongside our incredible summer program team (you’ll get a chance to meet our 2024 team soon..!).

Meet Christine 🌲
Christine has been involved in different capacities at Charis since 2012 but stepped into the Director of Discipleship role in 2022! She’s originally from Haida Gwaii and right after graduating bible college in 2011 she moved to Chilliwack where she worked as a Youth and Worship Pastor until 2015. Between then and taking the Director role here at Charis, she worked as a framer while completing her classwork for a Master’s degree in New Testament studies. Christine has a huge heart for teaching the Bible and discipling others.

Meet Savanah ☀️
Born in Cranbrook, raised in Yarrow, Savanah has been a part of Charis Camp ever since her first year as a camper back in 2005. She has come back year after year serving in different capacities. In 2019 she did her internship through Charis Camp and in 2021 she graduated from Columbia Bible College with a Degree in Youth Work. In 2023, Savanah was hired as the Program Director. Savanah desires to see young leaders’ lives change and grow and wants campers to experience the same love and care that she did growing up at Charis Camp.

Our second annual Family Camp Day is approaching and this year we’re doing a Carnival!!
All proceeds goes towards our summer leaders because without them camp wouldn’t be possible!

It is with great pleasure to announce that Camp Evergreen and Charis are partnering together for Summer 2024! 🙌🏻

Over the last 3 months, our teams have been meeting together as we believe that we can serve and care for our community better together!

Camp Evergreen has been running its camps at Charis for over 25 years and many of our great volunteers who have served at Charis over the years, first got connected here because they volunteered with Evergreen. They have been more than just familiar faces, but friends to us here at Charis!

This Summer the Evergreen team is coming under the Charis banner where we will be working together to add Roots & Rings Camp (for 8-12 yr olds) to our summer season. Roots & Rings Camp is a reimagining of Camp Evergreen which will not only add a new week of camp for us here at Charis, but also their unique week long leadership development program!

We are incredibly excited to see how God uses this partnership to care for kids and disciple young leaders!
