Matt Djonlic, Coquitlam City Councillor

During this time, I have also been working for the provincial government in the areas of housing, mental health, finance, and municipal affairs.

I’m running for City Council to make sure we build the kind of neighbourhoods our kids can grow up in and seniors can afford to stay in so we can continue to keep our sense of community in Coquitlam. For the last eight years I have been one of your Coquitlam Public Library Board trustees where I successfully advocated for a new Burke Mountain branch and expanded services, while staying within our budget. I want to bring all my experience onto City Council to advocate for people.

is aware of tomorrow’s protest. Our council remains steadfast in our commitment to championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. It is important to emphasize that there is absolutely no place for hate in Coquitlam.

We each have a role to play in nurturing a sense of belonging and ensuring the safety of everyone in Coquitlam, whether they live here or are just visiting.

The City is aware of the upcoming 'Million March 4 Children' event planned in our community, as well as similar events taking place across the country, this week. While we uphold the fundamental right of individuals to organize and participate in peaceful protests within our public spaces, we also want to take this moment to reaffirm our unwavering solidarity with the LGBTQ2S+ community. We firmly support their right to live authentically, without fear of harassment or hatred.

The City of Coquitlam remains steadfast in our commitment to championing equity, diversity, and inclusion, which are the cornerstones of a welcoming community. We respect the right to peaceful protest, but it is important to emphasize that there is absolutely no place for hate in Coquitlam.
