I stopped by the picket line today to bring some snacks and support to striking postal workers.
These folks work so hard, and their value to our communities cannot be understated….mail delivery and more. We heard stories today of how connected postal workers are to our community. Recognizing issues in seniors when mail goes uncollected, alerting homeowners to flooding and unsafe conditions they might have been otherwise unaware of, and so much more. They deserve respect and equitable and safe working conditions.
Special thanks to the CUPW member who delivers to my own office on Austin, who I learned today is a shop steward! Thank you for all you do.
This morning I marked Remembrance Day by laying a wreath at the Blue Mountain cenotaph and participating in a beautiful ceremony, organized by the Coquitlam Legion.
Following the ceremony was a lunch at the Legion with some of the incredible first responders in our community alongside veterans.
Thank you to the Legion for all the important work you do to honour our veterans. Thank you to all who served, to all who serve today, and to all those who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Today, I had an important discussion with Jennifer Fane about how we can better support entrepreneurs with disabilities. We talked about the need to break down barriers and fight against ableism so that people with disabilities get the resources and supports they deserve. Everyone should have the opportunity to succeed, no matter their abilities. I’m committed to making sure our society is more inclusive and accessible for all.
I had a good visit today with the newly re-elected Rick Glumac. I look forward to continuing to work with Rick on the issues that matter to the people of Port Moody (and Coquitlam, Anmore, and Belcarra)!
