ironment is a focal point in a Montessori setting. The more organized and orderly the room is, the more accessible and accommodating the learning outcome. Montessori classroom materials are to teach through senses first and later lead to reading, writing, advanced mathematics, problem solving, geography, science and cultural studies. The goal of a Montessori classroom is to create an independent thinker, by using child-sized, age appropriate, authentic materials, and high quality learning tools. Children learn to make natural connections, and problem solve while relating their exploration to practical living. Montessori fosters a neat and orderly environment with materials always at the child’s level. Another unique view of a Montessori approach is the built in control of error with the materials found in the classroom. The children are able to connect and learn from their mistakes without the teacher pointing it out to them. This aspect of the Montessori approach is an element that adopts an independent role from the child. The children are encouraged to work with or without their peers. Children are empowered as they work independently or cooperatively through a world of knowledge. Children are busy and they need that active learning style to comprehend the vast world of knowledge we live in. There isn’t a better method than to have the child lead the way with his/her own concepts and ideas.
