Madagascar School Project
Madagascar School Project (MSP) is a registered Canadian charity, created in 2008, to provide education and relieve poverty in rural Madagascar.
Ambatoharanana and Ambohiborosy are located an hour from Antananarivo, Madagascar's capital city. Madagascar, a French colony, gained its independence in 1960. The main language spoken is the indigenous language, Malagasy, with the educated population speaking French.
67.8% of the population in Madagascar lives below $1.25/day. Many children are unable to attend school due to lack of family funds and are unable to seek opportunities to break out of the cycle of malnutrition and poverty.

We bid a fond farewell to Oliver Schwab, a volunteer of almost 4 months. The pictures tell of how much he enjoyed the children and they him. He’ll be missed at Tenaquip as he goes on to volunteer at an environmental protection project in Madagascar.

Our Grade 12 Science-stream students are half way through their exchange visit to Switzerland. Spending a weekend in the Alps! What an experience for them!
Russell Public School in Eastern Ontario raised money by selling popcorn at recess. This was all done by volunteers led by Kathy’s former colleague Debra Kelly. The volunteer presently at the school, Oliver Schwab from Switzerland, made this video to show the appreciation for the gift

In Madagascar, when one of our teachers gives birth, colleagues from school go to pay a visit and bring congratulations and tidings from the rest of the staff, as well as a little gift of money to help the family along. Two of our teachers at Tenaquip have just welcomed new life into their families.
The service for a loyal friend of MSP, Beverly McOuat.
A loyal friend of The MSP has passed away. We mourn the death of Beverly McOuat, a giver of gifts to the Malagasy people. At Christmas time she gave each family a chicken, and two fruit trees to plant at their homes, as well as she helped provide a Christmas feast for all the staff and students. The people of Madagascar held a church service in Bev’s honour at the school and are flying their flags at half mast. May her kind soul rest in peace.
