Flower sleeve additions 🌸

In progress! (Healed line roses on upper arm and healed dark flowers on forearm are not mine).
My client came to me with an unfinished sleeve of flowers, and wanted to get this finished and tie everything together nicely. So we put a plan together, and are chipping away bit by bit until she has the sleeve she’s always wanted!💖

⚠️I usually only take on started projects from other artists if my clients have communicated with the other artist about it, are no longer in the industry, or have moved far away. We always check boxes before we start on another artists project, as not to step on anyone’s toes ✅

💭 I remember at one point in my career where I was heavily discouraged from doing traditional, because I was the “fine line artist”.
At that time, I was super new to tattooing, and was eager to explore different styles because F**K ME there are so many out there that I absolutely love, and want to learn how to do them properly and well.
Not be put in a box because “we said so” and “someone else does that”.
As if one sole artist has a monopoly on an art style?
I never wanted to be a single style artist, even though a lot of artists are happy sticking with one style and that’s amazing for them 🩷
But for me, it’s just not me.
Never at any point in my career (aside from my apprenticeship with my mentor) was I ever encouraged to branch out, try new things, and explore what I love.
And that just didn’t sit well with me because well, I didn’t agree with that! I think any young artist should be encouraged and guided to pursue what interests them, so that they can become the artist they are MEANT to be.

But now, I’m in my own space and have the amazing opportunity to branch out and try a multitude of different styles that interest me 🙏 I don’t know if I’ll ever niche down because truth be told, there’s just too many sexy-ass styles that I want to text my hand at.

Cyber sigilism? Fine line? Animals? Neo-traditional? Japanese? Illustrative? Neo-etching??
F**k me up.

So, the point to this rant- getting to actually do tattoos like these just fill my heart. I am SO DANG GRATEFUL that the universe sent me a very traumatic, very difficult curve-ball this time last year and forced me make a big move for myself- and leave. Because now I’m in a safe, encouraging space that allows me to do what I love- AND, make my clients happy.

Do what you love, and don’t ever let anyone tell you different.

The King Protea flower is a genus of South African flowering plants, also referred to as sugar bushes. It also happens to be the national flower of South Africa 🇿🇦

My client wanted something that was both nostalgic and symbolic of his national background, which is pretty dang rad.
