Wheelchair Sports Alberta is a registered charitable non-profit association responsible for the development and delivery of provincial level sport programs and services throughout Alberta.
It is bittersweet to have Shawn step down from his head coaching role, but we are jazzed to have him back on Team Alberta as an athlete. We can't wait for his experience and passion back on the ice!

It's time for another Honoured Member Highlight!
Ron Minor began his successful career in wheelchair sports in 1975. At the 1984 New York/Stoke Mandeville Paralympics, he won gold medals in the 200m and 400m races, along with bronze medals in the 100m, 800m, and marathon events. He later competed in wheelchair basketball at the 1988 Seoul and 1992 Barcelona Paralympics, where his team finished 5th in both events. He has been inducted twice, in 1980 as a Wheelchair Sports Athlete, and again in 2008 with the 2004-2005 Alberta Northern Lights Wheelchair Basketball Team.

Today we're highlighting Robert Easton, a standout in wheelchair racing, who dominated the sport from 1982 to 1988, setting world records and winning three gold medals at the Seoul Paralympics in 1988. He was inducted in 2000 as a Wheelchair Track & Field Athlete.

The Paralympic Games have officially started, so we're going to highlight a few of our Paralympic inductees.
Dr. Robert "Bob" Steadward, the founding president of the International Paralympic Committee (1989-2001), played a key role in advancing Paralympic sports, establishing multiple organizations and serving in various leadership roles both locally and internationally. His contributions earned him numerous awards, including the Bryce Taylor Memorial Award and honorary memberships in several sports associations. Dr. Steadward was inducted in 1984 as a Wheelchair Sports Builder.
