Good morning from Hosta Lane Acupuncture!
It's a beautiful morning for a quiet moment in my outdoor space.
I had a busy weekend full of continuing education at the AACMC conference.
One of the many lectures on Saturday was on scalp acupuncture. It's use in the treatment of neurological issues such as MS and Parkinson's made me want to look at it more closely to treat several existing patients.
I haven't used it as I did not feel confident in my needling technique. I am going to ask several clients if I can try it on them. I believe my needling abilities have improved significantly since trying it as a student practitioner.
Always learning, always improving, always here to help.

Ending 2023 with a winter hike at the Cooking Lake Blackfoot Provincial Rec Area with kiddo and hubs. Our lack of snow means no cross country skiing trails, so we hiked and didn't worry about messing up groomed trails.

You ever get that feeling that the cold and damp weather has attacked your body, leaving you chilled with aching muscles and joints?
This is considered a cause of disease in Traditional Chinese Medicine!
One modality we use regularly in the clinic is moxibustion. Moxa for short is the burning of the herb Artemis vulgaris (Mugwort) placed on the acupuncture needle or on/near the skin. The heat warms the area deeply. It can get a bit smoky but I have a special air handling system in place just for this kind of treatment.
If smoke is an issue, I have an electronic smoke-free version that is also very effective.
