Back in the shop tomorrow afternoon!

Have to get the bridge doctor installed in the Taylor 514CE that we've been working on, and have the thing ready for the finish touch ups around the bridge and last bit on the cracks we reglued!

We also have some work on the Le Bria acoustic restoration, like we've gotta get some binding and route the channel clean due to glue squeeze out, and then get her all ready for a set up and ready to play again!

Also will be making a post about some in shop business stuff at some point this week, it isn't a BAD thing, just some new policy information we'll be implementing very soon! πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ˜Š

I know I posted earlier about not being able to work today, but I legit crawled on my butt to the shop and got the broken bridge off that I made, and replaced it with another one I had made last week off instagram.

Got the old one and new one swapped and now tomorrow we can start the bridge doctor after my doctor's appointment, so hopefully I didn't cripple myself even more, but I just, CAN'T lay in bed man, it's starting to make me go insane... πŸ™ƒπŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

Anywho, I hope y'all have a fantastic rest of your Sundays, I'll be seeing y'all with an update or some progress tomorrow late afternoon! ✌🏼🀘🏻🫢🏻

Haven't been in the shop since last Wednesday, I've been in bed crippled up physically due to the muscles and disks in my back being destroyed by the day, so unfortunately won't be in there today either.

Back to things tmr after my doctor's appointment, gonna beg and plead for some type of relief again, but not expecting anything to change or be done unfortunately, welcome to our "Free healthcare" I'd rather be in the states where when you pay for it, you get better treatment, unfortunately the nearest "super hospital" in Canada is 5 provinces away, so that's out of the question.

Anywho, I hope y'all have been having a fantastic and fun weekend, the last one of summer here in Canada, so make sure to go out and enjoy things before the Leafs turn red and orange and wildlife goes hibernating!

Enjoy these random pics of Pheonix and his new upgrades in his enclosure!

I'll see y'all tmr evening! 🀘🏻✌🏼🫢🏻

Busy afternoon!!

Got the "Fender Le Bria" all chiseled out brace wise, had to add a spruce and also a maple brace in the neck pocket area as regardless of how many neck resets or flattening the area with heat, it KEEPS DIVING into the sound hole.

So, got a couple new braces in said area, and also got the back attached now as well, so productive day to say the least...

Yes, I KNOW my clamping job, is NOT proper, but when you loose all of your spool clamps somehow, it has to do, so it is all closed and flat, so it works for this beauty, which is now MINE as the customer unfortunately never came back or emailed me in over a year with me emailing several times to contact said customer and just no words, tis mine now!

Anywho, if you want the ENTIRE build playlist, join us over on for $1 a month, and you will get to see videos and me frustrated in an attempt to do this restoration!πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜‚

As much as I'd love to be in the shop today, the pain in my fu***ng calves and left wrist just have me in tears, and I thought I could power thru it, but I just can't at this point.

We'll be back in tmr when I have a day to just relax my body and hopefully that will help this pain simmer down some.

I hope y'all understand and I'll be back around tomorrow sometime! 🀘🏻✌🏼

So, today's plans are a bit different than we expected yesterday.

Today we are going WAYYYY back, 2 years ago, to the "Fender Le Bria" acoustic that we had to do brace work in for the neck to stop diving into the sound hole, and we are going to start the work to continuing that repair!

Figured it's some fresh work that we can at least keep progress going on finally!

Anywho, that's the plan, gotta do some brace carving etc so let's do that today! πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ€˜πŸ»

Back in the shop here in a short while!

Got the Jeff Beck Strat to do a nice set up on, making the action a lot more playable as it's spec is out in the acoustic action height spec, so gotta knock that down a couple mms.

Also the customer wants the bridge to remain floating and to be able to pull up and down 1 FULL step, so it's not so much needed to play the higher register!

Some pics of the before set up, and I will try my best to get a demo of it before hand, but not sure if I have a proper power cord for my amp ffs, it's disappeared somewhere but I'll try to find it!

Anywho, see y'all later on today with the results! 🀌🏻🀘🏻

Cracks are filled, didn't do ALL of them as some were just grain pores that opened due to the dryness, but I did fill a majority of the bigger and deeper cracks that either went straight under the fret to the other side of groupings that you could feel while fretting higher up!

Waiting on these spots to dry, even tho super glue is quick drying, in order to scrape it properly its gotta cure for at LEAST an hour before attempting to level them.

I also noticed when doing the nut earlier, that the fretboard or at least the binding has separated from the neck itself, so going to pump some glue into that area and then level it out and do a touch up with some mahogany finish touch up paint!

Back at it in an hour! πŸ˜ŠπŸ€˜πŸ»πŸ™ŒπŸ»

Photos from Synnyster's Guitar Repair an Servicing's post 09/14/2024

While filing the New nut, I noticed the amount of cracks and gouges out of this rosewood board... Pity man, the previous owner apparently didn't care to much for the shape of his guitars, even expensive onesπŸ€―πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜…

Anywho, now onto some crack filling now that the nut is all set up, and ready to play!!

Photos from Synnyster's Guitar Repair an Servicing's post 09/14/2024

Back to the shop here within the hour!

Working on the Gibson SJ that's on the bench today, has a slight nut issue, the middle 2 strings have a SLIGHT metallic sounding buzz when played fretted and open, so the nut slot test was administered and the slots are WAYYY to low... 🫀🫠

The nut on it currently, is the tusk nut for Gibson Jumbo's, so I went and looked and lucky to find an unopened one in the shop, and hopefully the person who used the prior one filed them too deep and it wasn't that way from the stock nut, but we'll see!

Hope to be able to grab a tiny playing demo from this beauty as well, I LOVE the SJ sound!

Moving on to the Jeff Beck custom shop Strat tomorrow, needs a set up and the bridge adjusted to pull and push up/down a full step! πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ€˜πŸ»

09/13/2024

Wasn't in the shop this afternoon, had some personal health stuff to get over/thru.

Will be back starting the nut replacement on the Gibson SJ come tmr afternoon, so that will be a decently quick job, just have to change out one tusk nut for another that's a blank and slot it correctly which the one on it now is too low, WAY too low that it buzzes open strummed.

Anywho, I hope y'all have a fantastic day, ill be seeing y'all tmr afternoon! 🀘🏻✌🏼

Customer drop off is successfully finished!

We have these beauties to finish by Monday, which include the following guitars and repairs needed!

1) 2005 Gibson southern jumbo: New nut, as nut slots were filled down WAY to low so open strings buzz worse than a wasp/hornet!

2) A 2011?! Fender "Jeff Beck" custom shop artist Strat!: needs proper set up, and floating bridge dialed in so a pull up and down will go 1 FULL step up or down tuning in higher chords...

Anywho, going to be starting with the Gibson tomorrow, do the nut up, and make sure it's playable for his hands, pretty famous dude, don't want to name names unless I'm told I can, but these guitars are NOT cheap or common.

After these two...

we have an '85 Telecaster with EMG single could that need to be changed for vintage noiseless tele pick ups

As well as a Gibson WM acoustic with the classic Nova Scotia winter time cracking, as the player didn't know how dry Nova Scotia was when he retired here, so those two come this Monday in exchange for the fixed first two!

I hope y'all have a fantastic day and start to your weekends tmr, being Friday, just skip work and drink beer all day! πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ’πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ€˜πŸ»

Later gators, back on later today!

Customers on his way with 4 beauties to look at and get some repairs/work done on!

2 Gibson's, and 2 high end fenders, should be a decent few to work on, apparently the Gibson acoustics need a bit of work, so that can and should fun, and the two Fender electrics are in need of wiring and set up work;

I'll have some pics of the beauties when I get them and start going over them on my own!

Unfortunately we won't be working on Alex Nemet's acoustic, he has decided it's quite the drive and I definitely understand coming for a few hours when the drive time equals that itself, but will have updated for y'all on it when it gets started by him and his other luthier buddy! 😊🀘🏻

I'll be back later on this afternoon! βœŒπŸΌπŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ€˜πŸ»

Will NOT be in the shop today.

Woke up, and can barely walk now, I've just pushed myself too far the last few days again, and it's still sinking into my mind that I have to pace and take it easy on myself when it comes to working still.

It's frustrating, and pi**es me off, I'd love to go into the shop, and work every single day for hours, but that's just not in the cards for me any more.... 🫀🫠o

Hopefully back to it Friday with the rad Alex Nemet and start that gorgeous vintage acoustic,

Til then, bed ridden again. 🫀🫠πŸ₯΄πŸ˜

Pretty good late afternoon on the shop, put 4 hrs in, and happy with the results!

The bridge is glued on and actually stuck this time with some fresh hot hide glue, after which, I got the saddle slot routed with the new Dremel router bits, talk about an awesome set of bits for Saddle slotting! πŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ€˜πŸ»πŸ˜

Got the new Grover locking tuners on the Taylor as well, the owner wanted them switched and to use the Taylor tuners on the sterling he also dropped off, so that will be later down the road once this Taylor is finished!

Waiting on a bridge doctor in the mail, after that we can finally get it installed and then set up the Taylor and onto the Sterling!

Tomorrow we've got a few guitars coming in for winter season preparations, as well as the first day working on the " 1900 Bauer" vintage guitar of Alex Nemet's as he will be here as well, and eventually working on other guitars with me to show him some new skills and get him on his way to being a repair tech himself in the near future, if he likes it, that is!

Anywho, here's the Taylor's progress pictures, see you tomorrow y'all! πŸ˜ŠπŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ€˜πŸ»βœŠπŸ»

Will not be working on the project today, had a pretty fu***ng rough night and have been up in pain since 5:45am ffs.

Will be doing things tomorrow afternoon on the project of Alex Nemet's beauty of a vintage guitar!

Will be attempting to get through this overtiredness in a bit, to go continue on the Taylor guitar restoration, should be able to get things quite buttoned up and ready for the customer in the next couple days! 😊✊🏻🀘🏻

Have a fantastic afternoon y'all, time to try to nap and then go to work!πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ™„πŸ«

Later gators!

Was in the shop this evening.

Cleaned up the area to fit two people in it, so that tmr Alex Nemet and I can start on the very rare project we've been discussing for the past month.

He will be working under me, sort of like an apprentice, but he has some wicked skills doing banjos, so he definitely knows fretboard and fret work probably as good, or better than my own!

So yeah, we have a "1900" acoustic to restore, it's going to be an ongoing project between him and I, and we'll have TONNES of content coming for that stuff, starting tmr afternoon!

Got the saddle slot cut in the Taylor's new bridge, as I was pulling the bit out of the slot, the bridge actually moved, and I popped it back off to discover the hide glue just turned into clumps of gel and didn't cure ffs, so the whole batch is out the door now, as I can't trust it.

Made some new stuff up, did a test and it's better and actually curing now! πŸ˜…πŸ₯΄πŸ€§πŸ˜‚πŸ™„

See y'all tmr evening probably with some content! πŸ˜ŠπŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ™ŒπŸ»πŸ€˜πŸ»
