Chiropractic Office Assistant/Receptionist

Our busy clinic is looking for the right person to join our team! Are you that person?

Our office environment focuses on health and wellness. We are not the typical 9-5 environment. If you're a strong collaborator and you’re looking for more than a “job” - you are looking for something that will truly be effective in people’s lives, then you are the person we want!

You are motivated, dynamic, energetic, professional, organized, team player, loves being busy, and enjoys people. You understand Chiropractic and previously worked in an office assisting people.

Required Skills:

• Excellent communication skills - not only listens to others, but understands what they are saying
• Very good mathematical skills
• Excellent people skills and has a pleasant demeanour (in person and on the telephone)
• Embraces Technology/Proficient in Microsoft Office (word and excel) and scheduling programs
• Insurance billing (online billing), payments, and reconciliation of insurance and daily payments
• Ability to work well within a team and on an individual basis
• Ability to always maintain confidentiality
• Ability to manage time, multitask and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent attention to detail, diligence, and mindfulness
• Initiative – we want someone who sees what needs to be done and finds ways to do and to see if there are ways to improve
• Willingness to learn - Initiative-taker and able to work with minimum supervision
• Prior administrative work experience – minimum of one year
Skills that are an asset:

• Exceptional understanding of alternative health and wellness
• Graduate from a recognized college with administrative/secretarial training (or relevant skills)

Responsibilities:

• Scheduling appointments and preparing patient files
• Answering and managing all incoming telephone calls, emails, and text messages and following up with patients
• Greeting and welcoming patients upon arrival
• Ensuring all required patient information is obtained from the patient
• Preparing treatment rooms prior to each appointment – per Covid protocols
• Billing to Third Party Insurance Companies and Reconciliation of Payments
• Verifying payment methods, i.e., insurance, credit card, etc.
• Processing payments (cash, cheque, POS unit, etransfer) and accounts receivable (invoicing)
• Daily balancing of financial transactions
• Some basic marketing and website administration
• Filing and data entry
• Ordering office supplies when required
• Other office upkeep and office related duties as assigned

Working Conditions:

• Part-time - minimum of 15 – 20 hours / week. Opportunity to cover for vacations and other absences. Training provided!

Location: 5991 Spring Garden Road (Halifax Professional Centre - Downtown Halifax) – on various bus routes
