Description
Seeking a dual licensed funeral director and embalmer or, apprentice presently enrolled in the Funeral Director & Allied Health Services program at an accredited college or university.

Job duties
• Meet with families of the deceased regarding the nature of the funeral service, the disposition of the remains and funeral costs
• Plan and schedule funeral services, co-ordinate burials and cremations and liaise with clergy, churches, cemeteries and other affiliations
• Transfer, or arrange for the transfer of, the remains from the place of death or holding facility to the funeral home and/or crematorium
• Inform and assist survivors in applying for benefits for which they may be eligible as well as notifying relevant agencies of the death
• Assist families in the preparation of, as well as submitting obituaries to newspapers.
• Register deaths on-line through Vital Statistics portal as well as submit obituaries to the funeral home website.
• Prepare bulletins, bookmarks, orders of service and other stationery as needed
• Prepare necessary documentation including statements of death and invoices of account
• Be available to prepare of the remains as required. Such details include but are not limited to preservation, sanitization, cosmetics, restorative work, and embalming

We pause, remember those names which are etched forever in history, and those who worked tirelessly to rebuild; those who showed that the efforts of every person, no matter how small, working for the common good, make a difference. One moment and one step at a time.

We are frequently told, when meeting with a family for the first time "______ didn't like having their picture taken." Too often this is the case, and we only realize the value of a photograph after someone is gone. We were very fortunate to have the opportunity to spend time with the wonderful Chantal Routhier today as she captured our team and their families. The weather co-operated, and we had a sunny and crisp wintery afternoon. Always, always take the picture. (Although, admittedly, I'm not a professional!)

As Christmas approaches memorial ornaments are a beautiful way to remember those who forever hold a special place in our hearts. ✨
