After the devastating wildfire that affected the Skwlāx te Secwepemcúl̓ecw community last August, our Okanagan Charitable Giving Committee was proud to be a hole sponsor at this year’s Skwlāx Golf Tournament, hosted at Talking Rock Golf Course in Chase, BC.
The community has shown incredible strength and resilience after losing 34 residential doors and multiple community buildings to the wildfire, but the road to recovery is long. The funds raised by the tournament will support two important initiatives: Skwlāx te Secwepemcúl̓ecw Wildfire Recovery and the Youth/Career Development Programs.
Big thanks to Subhadra Nault and Christine Bucholtz for hosting hole # 12. They did an amazing job keeping the participants entertained and hydrated in the heat!
Emil Anderson Group is a team of builders, but did you know we have a green thumb too?
After donating funds to promote the Plant A Row For Us - The Chilliwack Salvation Army program in 2023, we wanted to make a more hands-on contribution this year. In the spring, we purchased a couple of garden beds from the local Chilliwack company Growboxx Gardening and set them up in the yard at our Rosedale Office. Since then, our little garden has grown enough produce to supply four deliveries to the The Salvation Army Chilliwack. It’s a modest donation but a rewarding one to know that we are helping bring fresh, nutritious options to those in need right here in our community.
We’re excited to announce the launch of our Monthly Photo Contest, a new initiative to showcase the incredible work and dedication from the point of view of the Emil Anderson Group team. Each month, we’ll select the best photo featuring our people, equipment, or projects. The winner will receive some awesome company swag!
🌟 Congratulations to Owen Negrey, Project Coordinator at Emil Anderson Construction, for winning this month’s contest! Owen’s stunning photo captures EAC Surveyor, Brett Siebert, standing on the east rock cut in Tappen, preparing for drilling and blasting.
Stay tuned for more amazing photos from our talented team!
This month, we recognize Yuliya Vorona, Field Engineer for Ballina Contracting, with the Women of Emil Anderson Group Building HerStory Spotlight.
After graduating, Yuliya started pursuing positions in the private sector when she realized she wanted to be out in the field rather than sitting behind a desk. She says the company culture at Emil Anderson Group has been “fantastic!” and the team mindset creates a sense of inclusion that extends to safety. “When you include people and are open to both criticism and positivity, they are more likely to speak up and make a positive impact.”
Yuliya has always loved the outdoors and in her free time she and her dog, Obi, are working towards their first-level protection, tracking, and obedience certificate. “Learning about dog behaviour is fascinating; knowing how to control your dog in a positive way and having common ground with them is pretty empowering.”
Enjoy live music every week this summer at Hope Concerts in the Park, a free outdoor concert series held every Friday in July and August!
Emil Anderson Group is proud to support the series and serve as presenting sponsor for the July 12 show featuring Dixie Fried Hep Katz. Bring your dancing shoes and your appetite because Reimer’s Food Truck will be serving up burgers and more.
Live music takes place from 6:30-8:15 PM in Memorial Park. Don’t forget to bring a camping chair or picnic blanket!
Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting BC Road Builders' RoadShow at our Kelowna Crowley location. In partnership with Kelowna Community Resources and their Youth Employment Skill Strategy, the event was a tremendous success!
The RoadShow is a 34’ trailer packed with simulators and virtual reality technology. It provides a unique hands-on experience for all who attended. Participants had the chance to operate a snow plow, excavator, articulated rock truck, wheel loader, and more!
Here’s what Nat Grebinski, Quality Manager, Emil Anderson Construction, had to say about the experience:
"I had an incredible experience with BC Road Builders THE ROADSHOW! It was an amazing opportunity to get hands-on training in a safe and controlled environment. The realistic controls and immersive graphics made it feel like I was operating real machinery. Highly recommend it to anyone looking to experience a piece of machinery they are not familiar with or just have some fun!"
Thank you to everyone who joined us and to the BC Road Builders & Heavy Construction Association for bringing this incredible event to our location. We look forward to more events like this in the future!
Happy Canada Day from Emil Anderson Group! This Canada Day, we celebrate our commitment to the communities we work in. Wishing everyone a joyful and safe day 🇨🇦
Every year, around 25 workers in BC are seriously injured on the roadside. As we move into the busy season, it’s extra important to pay attention and respect speed limits and signage in construction zones.
Road Safety at Work’s annual Cone Zone campaign has videos, quizzes, and other helpful material to keep workers and drivers safe this summer.

Last week, we called on everyone at Emil Anderson Group to come together and support local food banks as part of our latest community-driven campaign. From Chilliwack to Kelowna, Skeena to Robson, every office rose to the challenge. Thanks to their incredible efforts, we were able to stock the shelves at several food banks, providing essential support to seniors, the unhoused community, and local families facing hard times. Collectively, we delivered over 1,000 items to the All Are Family Outreach Society in Kelowna and donated more than $600 in cash and gift cards.
We are immensely proud of our team’s swift and generous response to support our community. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this important cause.
June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada and the Emil Anderson Group of Companies recognizes this time to honour and respect the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. Last week, the Women of Emil Anderson Group hosted their second networking event at the Kelowna Head Office. It was a resounding success!
The event not only facilitated invaluable networking opportunities, but it also featured the much-anticipated unveiling of new safety vests, specifically designed for women. These vests, a product of a woman-owned company, are tailored to fit women's bodies, ensuring both comfort and safety for those working in the field.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all who attended and contributed to the event's success. Your participation is instrumental in driving our commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.
Today we join Moose Hide Campaign Day–an Indigenous-led, grassroots movement taking a stand to end gender-based violence.

Central to its message is the moose hide pin—a symbol of the commitment to honouring, respecting, and protecting the women and children in our lives. It's a powerful reminder that we all have a role to play in speaking out against gender-based and domestic violence.
So today and every day, we proudly wear our moose hide pins, and take our pledge to build safer and more compassionate communities.
