This Canada Day long weekend, we celebrate Canada and the incredible communities we serve. Building roads that connect and support our province is a privilege we are honoured to have.
Wishing you a very happy and safe Canada Day 🇨🇦
We are thrilled to share that we’ve been awarded the Jumping Creek project! Located around 40 km northeast of Revelstoke, this project will enhance 2.6 km of Highway 1, nestled between the Illecillewaet project and the Jack MacDonald Snowshed.
We're set to begin early construction this fall, with major work kicking off in spring 2025 and wrapping up by spring 2028. We’re excited to improve this critical stretch of highway and continue our commitment to building better, safer roads for our communities.
Emil Anderson selected for $245M highway widening project Crews will improve 2.6 kilometres of Highway 1 between the recently completed Illecillewaet project and the Jack MacDonald Snowshed.
At Emil Anderson Construction, our values uphold our high standard of work. Commitment is one of them. Working hard, making good decisions, and taking accountability are the principles that guide us.
Happy International Women in Engineering Day! Today, we celebrate and honour all the trailblazing women making strides in the engineering field and inspiring future generations.
To all the dads who build, create, and inspire—Happy Father’s Day from all of us at Emil Anderson Construction! Your kindness and strength make the world a better place.
Project update!
The Osprey/Pandosy Sanitary Sewer Upgrades project is heading into the final stage—and easily the most challenging one—early this summer. The project checks all the site hazard boxes, including high groundwater, poor ground conditions, underground and overhead utilities, tight work zones, dense residential neighbourhood, and handling hazardous materials.
With each new discovery, our team has adapted and, in most cases, improved upon our already robust safety procedures to ensure the project continues without any major incidents.
Given the difficult nature of this project, we wanted to take a moment to thank the entire project team for their continued commitment to safety and excellence in the face of these incredibly challenging conditions.
The team has proven that problems are merely opportunities for innovation in the pursuit of excellence. It’s the kind of work we’re proud to do at Emil Anderson Construction.
We are proud to stand with Emil Anderson Group in honouring National Indigenous History Month. We recognize the importance of understanding and respecting the rich cultural heritage and contributions of Indigenous Peoples. Our commitment to economic reconciliation and building strong, inclusive relationships is integral to our operations and values.
June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada and the Emil Anderson Group of Companies recognizes this time to honour and respect the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. Acknowledging this month fosters a greater understanding and appreciation of the diverse Indigenous communities within Canada and BC. By doing so, Emil Anderson Group can continue the journey to contribute to economic reconciliation efforts, build stronger relationships with Indigenous Peoples throughout BC, and demonstrate a commitment to inclusivity and social responsibility.
Recognizing National Indigenous History Month also provides an opportunity to reflect on past injustices, celebrate Indigenous resilience and achievements, and support the ongoing efforts towards equality and justice for all Indigenous communities.
Last week, the Women of Emil Anderson Group hosted their second networking event at the Kelowna Head Office. It was a resounding success!
The event not only facilitated invaluable networking opportunities, but it also featured the much-anticipated unveiling of new safety vests, specifically designed for women. These vests, a product of a woman-owned company, are tailored to fit women's bodies, ensuring both comfort and safety for those working in the field.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all who attended and contributed to the event's success. Your participation is instrumental in driving our commitment to inclusivity and empowerment.
Today we join Moose Hide Campaign Day–an Indigenous-led, grassroots movement taking a stand to end gender-based violence.
Rooted in Indigenous traditions and teachings, the Moose Hide Campaign offers a meaningful path towards healing and understanding. Central to its message is the moose hide pin—a symbol of the commitment to honouring, respecting, and protecting the women and children in our lives. It's a powerful reminder that we all have a role to play in speaking out against gender-based and domestic violence.
So today and every day, we proudly wear our moose hide pins, and take our pledge to build safer and more compassionate communities.

Today we’re celebrating Siera Zandvliet, Project Coordinator at Emil Anderson Construction
“I have loved construction ever since I was a kid,” Siera shares. “The process of building and the reward of seeing a project come to completion has always excited and fascinated me, so getting into this industry was an obvious choice for my career. I think that as a young woman, it can be really intimidating to step up into a career that is traditionally male dominated, but I was always taught that I could do anything I set my mind to, despite my gender and other people’s expectations of me. The opportunities are endless if you want it, and you believe in yourself.”
Siera is one of the amazing women who is part of the Emil Anderson Group team, and we’re proud to feature her during Women in Construction Week.
“I know not every woman is lucky enough to have the sort of encouragement I was given,” Siera says, “For many the roadblocks are large, but I think the biggest thing that has helped me feel confident in this industry is finding strong and talented female mentors. I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with so many women in construction who are an inspiration to me everyday and have shown me that there is an inclusive future that includes many more women in this industry. My advice would be don’t let anyone stand in the way of your dreams and reach out to find the people to support and inspire you to achieve great things.”
Join us in celebrating Siera in the comments!
Happy Valentines Day from EAC! ❤️🤍

Happy National Construction Day! 🦺
Happy National Construction Day!
Here's to the construction professionals who turn blueprints into reality, transforming ideas into structures that form our communities. Thank you for your skill, dedication, and commitment to quality.
An excellent video that speaks to our values as a company and our goal of creating community gathering spaces!
We're excited to announce that our team was recently awarded the contract to rebuild the Middlesboro Bridge in Merritt! The bridge was destroyed in the significant flooding event of 2021, and we look forward to helping repair this crucial aspect of the community.
The new bridge will be built 1.5 meters higher than the original structure, capable of withstanding a one-in-200-year flood event and accommodating a 65% increase in water volume. It will also accommodate a more active transportation design, with a dedicated pedestrian and cyclist lane as well as two lanes of traffic.
“While the City has been able to make a number of major repairs, seeing the scar of the missing Middlesboro Bridge has been a painful daily reminder of that harrowing event," said Michael Goetz, mayor, City of Merritt - Municipal Government. "I’d like to thank the Province for providing the funding to repair this important transportation link, which will not only ease transportation routes for our residents but also revive our commercial corridors.”
November 15, 2023, marks the two-year anniversary of the atmospheric river and subsequent historic flooding and landslides that caused extensive damage to highways across the province. Less than two years after the historic event, all final permanent bridges on Highway 5-Coquihalla are open to public traffic in permanent four-lane configuration, and the project is substantially complete, with work winding down for the winter season.
All new bridges are now open on all three bridge sites. Pictured below, you’ll see the Bottletop, Juliet and Jessica Bridges before and after construction. Our crews and local Indigenous communities planted around 4,500 native plants at these sites to help return the environment to its natural landscape.
This project was completed in an alliance model partnership between the BC Transportation and Infrastructure, Emil Anderson Construction and Kiewit Corporation, providing design and re-construction of the infrastructure far more quickly than conventional bid-build or design-build models.
Because of the hard work of all involved, we are proud to announce that the project team received the 2023 PMI Large and Mega Project Award from the Project Management Institute, a prestigious honor that recognizes project management practices, innovation, working with partners across multiple sectors and our team making positive impacts to the community through this project’s recovery work.
Congratulations to all involved in this momentous milestone for our province.

As we approach National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30, we reflect on the collaborative project experiences we've had the opportunity to be part of working alongside local First Nations.
One of the most impactful, is the recently updated Vedder Bridge in Chilliwack. The Indigenous art installation that leads across the Vedder River celebrates the history of the Ts'elxwéyeqw Tribe and the Stó:lō Nation. The sculpture was designed by Chief David Jimmie of the Squiala First Nation and Coast Salish artist Bonny Graham in consultation with the Ts’elxwéyeqw Tribe and the Stó:lō Nation Chiefs Council. The river is a significant gateway to the area, and this project is symbolic of the positivity and harmony between communities.

Beginning this fall, the project will upgrade approximately 4.3 kilometres of highway, from two to four lanes, and replace the Tappen Overhead Bridge. This is EAC’s fourth Trans-Canada widening project in the last 10 years.
We're looking forward to coordinating and collaborating with local Indigenous partners Skwlāx te Secwepemcúl̓ecw (Skwlāx) and Skwlax Resource Management Ltd.
