We are excited to announce our new Kickboxing coming soon Coach Ki.

Ki is moving to Kelowna from Calgary and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as a kickboxing coach with him. Ki is also. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt to ad to the many Black Belt we now have on our team.

Here is a break down of Ki’s experience:
• 13 years practicing Muay Thai with 10 years of coaching.
• Cornerman for over 30 MMA/Muay Thai fights.
• Trained alongside and coached several national Muay Thai champions.
• Previous head coach of a large BJJ team with over 20 competitions including a 2nd place Adult Team finish at CBJJF Alberta Provincials.

Kenyan runner Abel Mutai was just a few feet from the finish line, but became confused with the signage and stopped, thinking he had completed the race.

A Spanish runner, Ivan Fernandez, was right behind him and, realizing what was happening, started shouting at the Kenyan to continue running. Mutai didn’t know Spanish and didn’t understand. Realizing what was taking place, Fernandez pushed Mutai to victory.

A journalist asked Ivan, “Why did you do that?”

Ivan replied, “My dream is that someday we can have a kind of community life where we push and help each other to win.”

The journalist insisted, “But why did you let the Kenyan win?”

Ivan replied, “I didn’t let him win, he was going to win. The race was his.”

The journalist insisted again, “But you could have won!”

Ivan looked at him and replied, “But what would be the merit of my victory? What would be the honor in that medal? What would my mother think of that?”

More Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu legends came from Alliance São Paulo than any other school in the world. We are excited to see the next generation of champion competitors and instructors come from our Head Quarters School.

We had 12 x kids compete and we brought back 11 medals. We had 4 x adults compete and they brought back 2 x Gold Medals.

Wow! What incredibly fun time we had this past Saturday at our Team BBQ and Open House. So much fun watching the kids having fun in the Bouncy Castle and playing games inside. It’s great to have some more casual time to chat with the parents and members.

We are excited to host a seminar/fundraiser with the Breget Brothers in support of Elan Breget this Thursday July 19th from 7-8:30pm.

Elan is in need a very expensive teeth surgery to a condition he was born with. This will cost 10’s of thousands of dollars. The Okanagan Jiu-Jitsu community can come together to help one of our own in this great cause.

We had 17 kids compete and half of them it was their first time competing and they brought back 11 medals. We had 4 adults compete and 3 of them it was their first tournament and they brought back 3 medals.

More important everyone had fun, pushed to better themselves and had the support of their coaches and teammates.
