Our Story
The John Howard Society Okanagan & Kootenay is one of 8 John Howard Societies in BC and 61 across Canada that, while independent charitable organizations, share the same mandate. We have operated in the Okanagan for more than 60 years and are known for offering a wide range of innovative services within the fields of community justice, social services, health and safety, and public interest issues. Our vision is to contribute towards building ‘a safe, healthy, and inclusive community for all.’
We support people of assorted circumstances and backgrounds that includes, but not limited to, criminal justice involvement, homelessness, developmental disability, mental illness, or substance misuse. To address these complex needs, we offer innovative programs from a 27/ shelter, supportive housing, employment programs, disability outreach + community inclusion, homeshare, restorative justice, other justice system alternatives, volunteer opportunities, and so much more!
OUR VALUES
