Since the beginning of the Pandemic, we at Annapolis Valley Wellness Centre have worked hard to provide a safe environment for staff and our community. We are proud that we have been able to provide excellent care with minimal disruptions thus far.
Our clinic serves many patients considered vulnerable/immunocompromised and employs some as well. So despite the Governments' recent decision to ease restrictions, our staff will continue to wear masks and we ask that our patients do as well (all those that are able). Many of our treatments cannot be performed while social distancing and so we ask for your cooperation out of consideration for those still at risk.
We know some people are ready to move away from masks and we know some others are not. We ask for your kindness and respect in our clinic. We will continue to monitor the community and state of the pandemic biweekly and update our policies over time.
We do ask that if you are experiencing any symptoms of respiratory illness that you reschedule your appointments. (cough, runny nose etc).
We want to thank everyone for your patience.
We are so happy to be part of this amazing and active community! After 10 years in business, we felt it was time to give back. Thank you to the Village of Kingston, NS for all the recreational activities you offer!
Due to the icy weather forecasted for tomorrow, we have decided to close the clinic in advance. All scheduled patients will be notified. Thank you and stay safe this weekend!
Last week we showered Physio Nicole as she embarks on a very new and exciting journey! Congrats in advance Nicole! We can’t wait to meet her! Can’t wait to have you back in ~ 1 year.
Has your regular exercise routine been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic? ! It’s important to stay active, and a good way to determine if you’re getting enough physical activity is to check out the Canadian 24-hour movement guidelines! Did you know that it’s recommended for adults aged 18-64 to get at least 150 minutes per week of moderate to vigorous physical activity, and to complete muscle strengthening activities at least 2 days per week? Check out the 24-hour movement guidelines for your age category at: https://csepguidelines.ca
Don’t forget, physiotherapists in N.S. are here to help you keep moving, and can help you along the way.

After sustaining a concussion, it can be challenging for athletes, especially younger ones, to miss time in the sport they love.
But rushing the return to play can cause long-term or lifelong consequences.
Following impact to the head, athletes need to be appropriately assessed under concussion protocol before considering a return to play.
For more information on our return to play protocols, click on the link below.

Did you know that in Canada, physiotherapy is a regulated profession and the name “Physiotherapy” or “PT” are protected terms?
-
In order to work as a physiotherapist you have to go through the necessary steps to be licensed. This includes successful completion of a University Degree that has an accredited Physiotherapy program. Physiotherapists have a special body of knowledge of the human body and injury prevention/management and are held to strict regulatory standards by their governing body.
-
Only registered physiotherapists are eligible to use the terms “physiotherapist”, “physical therapist” and the professional designation “PT”. In addition, some other health personnel/professionals have mistakenly used the initials "PT". The use of the licensure designation "PT" by licensed physical therapists is there to ensure public protection; these specific initials denote to the patient that the person is licensed by their province. It is important when seeking treatment to be confident in the background and training of your practitioner knowing that they are using evidence based treatment methods to help Nova Scotians achieve their goals and keep them active doing the things they love.
