We meet at Trinity Lutheran Church at the corner of Oxford and Colbourne:

Throughout the week on our homes all over London
As I sit here tonight, preparing for tomorrow, I'm thinking of the women in my life. The one who lost a pregnancy this week. The ones who buried their mother this week. The one whose children are not with her. The one whose child will probably not even remember it's Mother's Day. The one whose relationships with her children are broken or strained at best. The one who desperately wanted to be a mother but hasn't been gifted the opportunity. The one whose children are going through unimaginably difficult things. I think of the women who are weary, discouraged, and hurting. And I think of the children whose mothers are not, or could not, be who they needed them to be, whose mothers are absent or estranged.
I pray that you feel seen. I pray that the God of comfort surrounds you and that the Holy Spirit ministers to you. I pray He draws near and wipes your tears and holds you close in His arms. I pray you hear Him whisper how very much He loves you and how very precious you are to Him. May you know your value to Him, and be assured that depsite the things that are not the way you had hoped, that your life has worth and meaning still.

Today, we lit the hope candle in this season of Advent.
What does hope mean for you? What do you hope for? hope in? Sometimes the darkness can seem so deep. Sometimes hope flickers like a candle on the edge of going out.
When our hope is in our abilities, in something or someone to change. "When I get this promotion... or a new job.... or a new relationship....", "when this other person stops doing this thing....", or "if I can just figure out a way to...." then we place our hope in the wrong place and we are sure to be disappointed. Even if our hope is in God changing our circumstance, or some promise we have claimed for ourselves from scripture, we may still be disappointed because God doesn't alway do what WE think He should, or move the way WE want Him to. But when our hope is in WHO God is, we can never be disappointed.
My prayer for you today is this: "May the God of green hope fill you up with joy, fill you up with peace, so that your believing lives, filled with the life-giving energy of the Holy Spirit will brim over with hope!" Romans 15:13 MSG

We were chatting in house church yesterday and someone shared a story about a sheep that was bit by a poisonous snake and nothing happened to it. To me the immediate parallel to the spiritual was so apparent that I had to google it to see if it was another one of those too good to be true stories. I discovered that in fact sheep's blood is used to make anti-venom. Of course, the charismatics were all over that and the protection that comes from the blood of the lamb but my thoughts were going a different way.
When we think of sheep we tend to see them as helpless and defenceless. We read Psalm 23 and we are reminded of how we need the Shepherd and of how compassionately He cares for and protects us. As I sat with this thought of the snake and the sheep I thought of another way that God protects us. God knew that snakes would be where sheep are and He provided a means of protection in their blood. The shepherd is not anxiously watching for snakes, he knows his sheep will be okay. The sheep is also not anxious about the snake.
I think as believers we can have a tendency to get freaked out about that old snake the devil but when God made us His, when we became part of His flock, He gave us a means of protection and because of that, we don't need to be anxious. Yeah, that snake's around, and his bite hurts, but greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4

Members of LCFI have been given an opportunity to minister in Nicaragua from February 2-11, 2024 in partnership with Missions for LIFE. Nicaragua is one of the poorest countries in Latin America. Almost 30 percent of the families in the country live in poverty and over 8 percent struggle in extreme poverty, surviving on less than US$ 1.25 daily. Nicaragua is also vulnerable to recurrent natural disasters such as droughts, hurricanes, floods, and earthquakes – all of which impede progress in addressing poverty and food insecurity.

One of the books I have been reading recently has gotten me thinking about how we gather as believers and how our times together should remind us of who God is and who we are in relation to Him. They should lift our eyes from our sinfulness and failures to see the forgiveness, the mercy and grace of God. They should lift our eyes from our struggles to see the God who is with us in our struggles. As we gather together we teach and remind our children of this and in time they also remind us. It is our prayer that as you gather today, that this would be your experience.
Three thoughts from our weekend together:
1. You are deeply cherished and loved by the Father
2. There is more grace than you have been told
3. Its still the middle of your story

Our Story
We want to welcome you into our community. We understand God to be loving and desiring people to be in relationship with Him. With this in mind, it is our desire that you find a place among us. Our goal is to love you regardless of your past, regardless of your gender, your racial background or what you believe. Our hope is that as you engage with us and God that He will challenge you right where you are and that you would come to know Him intimately.
We are a loving community of house churches that meet weekly in and around the London area with a corporate family meeting on the first Sunday of the month.
Although the terminology house church may sound like a contemporary concept, they are not really new; in fact, house churches are as old as the book of Acts. They are called house churches because each one functions like a little church.
The New Testament church was defined as the people. Believers did not go to church or join the church; they were the church. All members functioned as priests because everyone served as ministers. Each person got on-the-job training and learned how to make disciples.
