So, this is happening, which is why Christine and I have been MIA. We have explored all options tirelessly, consulted with all the right people, and are now asking for help. Please consider donating and/or sharing if you can. We don’t take asking for help lightly and this has all been a humbling experience. Thanks.

Some of you know her as a Chef or food stylist, or from the fashion industry; some of you know her from her years at CBC with her cooking show or from her guest appearances on many Canadian television shows as a tireless advocate for food waste. I know her as my baby sister, my best friend, an amazing mother to my niece and nephew, and an amazing partner to Matt. She is having a tough fight with a nasty brain tumour. I have dropped out of my life to help her as much as I can, and she has been extremely private about it until now. We have explored many options, but need help. My headshot and branding sessions start with an initial consultation to discuss the end goal, then, if required, we look at websites, social media accounts, and develop a plan as to why, and where, photos are needed. I like to “shoot to suit” ... meaning, I have pre-defined how the final photos will look when placed where they are required, in advance of the actual photo shoot.

This makeup!!!! While I did not photograph this, I began working with this Calgary MUA during covid, when we were not permitted to travel. She hired a local photographer who had not photographed hair or makeup before, and I consulted and did all the editing. It turned out to be a great collaboration and we are still all working together to create images for competitions. The collection is now in the finals for the NAHAs, North Americans most prestigious hair and beauty awards Always nice to be recognized amongst industry leaders, and even better to see more and more Canadian talent placing year after year. Congrats to Breanne Gershon for your nomination. Your work is stellar and I love working with you!!!! Hair and makeup .breanne photo post production .hair.beauty

Of the many, many photos I have taken of over the years, I think this is my favorite.

What makes a great headshot? I believe an effective headshot is one in which the body language and facial expressions convey the relevant message. Whether you are an actor or the corporate type, there are a few things that are consistent. I always consider the following when working with a client:
- Eye contact, establishing a connection with the viewer.
- Clarity, capturing the details and features with authenticity.
- Composition, framing images in a way that draws the viewer into the face and eyes.
- Confident and natural posing.
- Simple, yet professional styling, as not to camouflage with too much makeup or distracting patterns in the clothing.
- A clean and simple backdrop, with no clutter to compete with what is important, the face and expression!

Super proud of a few of my teams for being in the finalist round at the NAHAs this year! They work so freakin hard to get here.
