McGill student-led global health course for McGill students in health science professional programs.

This very unique course was created by students who wanted more global health content out of their education. The course is open to students from the faculties of medicine, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, social work, dentistry, kinesiology, psychology, dietetics and human nutrition and communication science. The course will be held on Tuesday evenings, from January 13th to March 24t

Dr. Ingrid Waldron is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Health at Dalhousie University and the Director of the NGO Environmental Noxiousness, Racial Inequities & Community Health Project (The ENRICH Project).

As the Director of the ENRICH Project over the last eight years, Dr. Waldron has been investigating the socio-economic, political, and health effects of environmental racism and other public infrastructure inequalities in Mi’kmaq and African Nova Scotian communities.

The ENRICH Project formed the basis to Dr. Waldron’s first book There’s Something in the Water: Environmental Racism in Indigenous and Black Communities, which received the 2020 Society for Socialist Studies Errol Sharpe Book Prize and the 2019 Atlantic Book Award for Scholarly Writing.

The 2020 Netflix documentary There’s Something in
the Water is based on Dr. Waldron’s book and was co-produced by Waldron, actors Elliot Page, Ian Daniel, and Julia Sanderson.

The ENRICH Project also formed the basis to the creation of the provincial private members bill An Act to Address Environmental Racism (Bill 111), which was introduced in the Nova Scotia Legislature on April 29, 2015, and the federal private members bill a National Strategy to Redress Environmental Racism (Bill C-230), which was introduced in the House of Commons on February 26, 2020 and moved to second reading on
December 3, 2020.

The Interprofessional Global Health Course (IPGHC) is perfect for you!

Started in 2007, the IPGHC is a student-led initiative created for students seeking to enhance Global Health content in their professional curricula at McGill University. This course includes lectures given by prominent scholars in their fields, panel discussions and interactive activities. This year’s edition of the course will explore strategies to decolonize Global Health in an interprofessional effort, in both local and international settings.

She will be sharing her experience and perspectives as a Naskapi Cree nurse who has worked primarily for her home community of Kawawachikamach in various functions. The 8th Annual MUHC Global Surgery Conference will be held on May 11th at the New Residence Hall. This conference is organized by students in collaboration with the Centre for Global Surgery at the MUHC. It will start at 9 am and end with a Wine and Cheese. There will be speakers from Alberta, Vancouver, Boston, London (ON) and Montreal. This year's theme is Breaking Down Silos in Global Surgery and the emphasis is put on the diversity of collaborators in this field (biomed engineers, policymakers, surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses).

The Prognosis, McGill's student journal of global health, is looking for submissions for its 2018-2019 edition! We feature research and articles on topics at the intersection of social, biomedical, environmental, global, and local perspectives on health. Papers ought to:
- be less than 4,000 words, excluding abstract and citations;
- use the Vancouver citation format;
- have an abstract of maximum 200 words;
