Also, remember that Zen on Wednesdays is now at 10am and Rise & Shine is EVERY Friday morning!

05/30/2024

We've been exploring different class times and days over the past couple months to see what people show up for... Evenings and weekends didn't seem to be hitting the mark so here's June!

Looking for a particular class at a particular time? Drop us a comment!

05/29/2024

๐ŸŒง๏ธ Pour yourself onto your mat and enjoy a fluid slow flow today at noon (12:00-1:00).

Starting next month (next week) Zen will be at 10:00-11:00, still on Wednesdays. Time is just an illusion anyways, right?

Yoga this weekend!

โœจVinyasa with Kristi on Saturday 9:30-10:30am

โœจNรฃda (Restorative with sound bath) Sunday with Chelsea 6:30-8:00pm

"If you want to change your life, wake up early."

Yoga has always been a morning practice for me and with Summer just around the corner most of us will be spending more time outside at the end of the day.

Try a morning class, you'll feel accomplished and you'll have more energy!

04/26/2024

There is still space for you in these classes this weekend with Andrew and Kelly!

Saturday AND Sunday 9:00-11:00am
(Dynamic led by Andrew)
These all levels dynamic practices will contain all the necessary ingredients to leave you feeling grounded and deeply at ease. Expect a strong, yet accessible asana practice with pranayama techniques and an element of meditation.

Saturday 6:00-8:00pm
(RESTORE led by Kelly)
This class is intended to help nourish and support the nervous system while giving the body space to unwind. With a yin/restorative focus, we'll explore postures that serve to lengthen the muscles and tissues, ground the body, and support integration through longer holds.

Sunday 2:00-4:00pm
(WORKSHOP, co-led)
In this workshop, we'll explore a granular and methodical approach to the previous sequences. Expect a slower-paced practice with a focus on the principles of alignment. We'll also hold space for a shared conversation around the concept of Pratyahara, and the techniques we'll be exploring throughout the weekend. Questions welcomed!

And here, in her own words, is the story of Kelly's yoga journey:

I first found Yoga in 2009 during a time that felt clouded with confusion and emotional pain. I was seeking guidance and inner healing and after my first class I instantly felt the medicinal value of going inward. Hearing the call to dive deeper into my purpose, I was led to my teacher Megan Currie in 2014 where I took a deep dive into Vinyasa + Anusara yoga. It was in my first training where I found safety in my body and fell in love with the subtleties of our energetic bodies. It was there where I felt the power of movement, prayer, and an access point to the liberation of suffering. Since then, Iโ€™ve continued my path of exploration through a 300 hour YTT with Megan Currie, various other trainings through different lineages, mentorship, and workshops. I believe that life is cyclical in nature and the work is never done. This consistent curiosity feeds my devotion towards studentship, humility, and living with an open mind and heart.

My Sankalpa or sacred intention is โ€œI lead through truth and loveโ€. In my classes, I am to create a space where others can come feel supported and held, so that they may come into their most authentic, embodied selves. I do this by honoring what is present in the moment, sharing the truths of my heart, and holding space for others to access theirs.

Kelly will be leading "Restore" on Saturday evening and co-leading the workshop on Sunday afternoon.

Here's some interesting background about one of the teachers coming to Nakusp this weekend:

Andrew is an international yoga teacher, (https://www.sattvaschoolofyoga.com/) based out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He is a yogi, a father, husband, world traveller, teacher and a filmaker.

At a young age, Andrew discovered the liberation of the breath, body, and mind through Kung Fu, which sparked his journey of self-discovery and eventually led him to dedicate his life to the ancient wisdom of yoga.

Over the past 15 years, Andrew has defied the odds and overcome significant health challenges both physically and emotionally through his dedicated yoga practice. His experience serves as proof that aligning the breath, body, and mind can overcome even the most insurmountable obstacles and awaken one's true identity and purpose.

Andrew now travels the world, leading intensives, workshops, and retreats as part of his mission to share the transformative power of yoga. He seamlessly blends the elements of body, breath, and mind in his teachings, which are characterized by clear posture practice, breathing techniques, and meditation, leaving students feeling blissful, present, and grounded. His philosophical teachings are drawn from his personal experiences and are delivered with humor and raw authenticity. Andrew is honoured to be a part of a community committed to making a positive impact on the world.

Andrew and his wife Laura are devout
parents to River Satya, their love guru.

Andrew will be guiding us through the 9am "Dynamic" classes on Saturday and Sunday, and of course co-leading the Sunday afternoon workshop (2-4).

Pratyahara shifts our focus from sensory perception to the essence of perception itself, guiding us to reconnect with the profound core of our being, where the observer resides.

Join Andrew Misle and Kelly Day for a 4 part weekend series April 27th & 28th, dedicated to the integration of pratyahara techniques into all aspects of the yoga practice.

$150 for the whole weekend (4 ร— 2 hour classes including a co-led workshop)
$40 per class

Monday, February 5th @ 6:00-7:15 pm

"75Min Heated Yin"

Yin yoga is a slow and calm practice that targets the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues โ€“ ligaments, joints, bones, the deep fascia networks of the body and the meridians. Connective tissue typically responds well to a slow, steady load, which is why we hold the poses for longer (2-5 mins each). Bringing the temperature in the room up a few degrees will help deepen your stretches.
*This will not be sweaty hot - just nice and warm.*

01/15/2024

We are looking for a few more people who want to drop into glorious relaxation with hot stones in a restorative yoga class.

Monday, January 22 @ 6-8 PM

We are back in the studio this week and although a couple schedule changes have occurred, 'Zen' the Wednesday lunch hour class that you all know and love remains as is. Today's class will have a gentle focus on reminding ourselves that we are doing a good job and that we are enough exactly as we are. All you need to do is show up... That's usually the hardest part ๐Ÿ˜‰

01/04/2024

December 1st marked 6 years of living in Nakusp which means this month marks 6 years of offering yoga here, only about 24 more until I'm a local ๐Ÿ˜†

I don't need to tell any of you that Nakusp is a small town, I just want to give a gentle reminder that events and activities can only run if people vote for them, and the only way to vote for them is to show up. So if you've ever considered trying a class or two, now is the time... If you're shy or nervous about it please feel free to message me privately, we're a pretty nice bunch of humans and we'll make you feel welcome.

That being said, we're ready to get back into the studio next week. There are a couple changes, so I encourage you to pop over to the website and have a look at the classes on the schedule paying special attention to the times as some have shifted.

Also, Dawn is offering 1 more 'Restorative Yoga With Hot Stones' class on January 17th, all the details on that can be found on the schedule page of the website as well. Let me know ASAP if you're interested as there is limited space and it usually fills quickly so we do request pre registration.

As with everything in life it's all about finding balance... Many of you already know this but for those who may have been napping in the back row I wanted to let you know I'm offering more than just yoga, I'm running fitness classes too and they're a lot of fun.

I hope to move it move it with you soon!
Kristi

12/16/2023

UPDATE: Due to unforeseen circumstances we have to cancel this class, we're very sorry for the short notice. Those who have registered will be contacted directly for a full refund.

You can still register for this lovely 90 minute restorative yoga with sound healing class. It's nice and toasty in our studio space, come warm you bones and nurture your soul ๐Ÿ’›
