We are excited to announce a new group offering coming to Beechwood Physical Medicine for Veterans and CAF members: Improving Your Sleep.
Facilitated by clinical, health, and rehabilitation psychologist Dr. Julie Beaulac, this group will give participants the tools to improve their sleep. Participants will benefit from the support of peers in the group while learning the top effective techniques for sleep, having the opportunity to review progress between sessions, and getting recommendations tailored to their specific concerns and goals.
Groups will take place bi-weekly on Thursdays from 18:30h-20h for a total of 4 sessions. Exact dates to be determined. We are delighted to offer a new monthly Veteran’s Psychotherapy Group: Rhythm of Connection.
This is a rhythm-based therapy group using percussion instruments such as Djembe drums with the goal of empowering veterans who experience physical or emotional pain.
Facilitated by Registered Psychotherapist Mary Marcolin, participants will benefit from emotional regulation, connection and trust-building with other veterans, support with physical rehabilitation through movement, and finding meaning and purpose in their shared experiences.

MEET THE TEAM: Eric Desjardins Resident, Yogi & Thai Massage Therapist
Eric's wellness journey began at a young age, when at his first Karate classes he learned about the benefits of meditation and physical exercise. This later led him to explore the practice of Yoga and in 2005 he completed his first Yoga Teacher Training at Rama Lotus Yoga Centre in Ottawa, ON. In 2009, he graduated with distinction from La Cite Collegiale as a Physical and Occupational Therapy Assistant and began to explore how Yoga and Mindfulness might be used in Rehabilitation.
He travelled to India and has been classically trained in Rishikesh, the world capital of Yoga, under the tutelage of his present-day Guru. He went on to complete further levels of training, including two 500-hour Yoga Master Programs and received the title of Yoga Acharya, Master of Yoga, M.Y. from the International Sivanada Yoga Vedanta Centre. He has taught and travelled extensively abroad from India to Thailand, the Maldives, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore, Vancouver and Hong Kong, leading numerous yoga teacher trainings, workshops, and retreats.
During his travels he experienced the healing benefits of Thai massage. In 2011 he returned to Bangkok, Thailand to study at Wat Po, the birthplace of traditional Thai massage. He is certified in Thai Traditional Massage for Health from the Chetawan Thai Traditional Massage School.
Eric is passionate about sharing his expertise in the practice of Yoga and Wellness. He presents Yoga in a way that is accessible as he emphasizes safety and body alignment in all his classes with his grounding and vibrant energy. He is Practical and results oriented and believes that Yoga, Massage, Meditation are a benefit for everyone on their own healing journey
MEET THE TEAM: Julie Goldring, Registered Psychotherapist
Julie comes to the profession of Psychotherapy after a rewarding career as a Naturopathic Doctor, where she gained a deep understanding of how chronic health issues can often be based in emotions and thought processes that keep us stuck. Julie's knowledge, her passion for people and for understanding their emotional world has naturally led to a therapy practice that focuses on the whole person - Body, Mind and Spirit. Her treatment approach is designed to provide a
safe, accepting and supportive place for clients to explore their challenges, cultivate self-awareness and begin to heal with gentleness and direction.
Julie works from a Humanistic, Holistic and Integrative lens and includes a Trauma-informed approach, an understanding of Attachment Styles and of Mindfulness living to work towards wholeness. Julie is hoping to integrate therapy dogs into her trauma work in the future and has done extensive research with Canine Assisted Therapy in the treatment of people who have experienced many different types of trauma.
Julie is a registered member in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario and a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Her special interests include:

MEET THE TEAM: Rob Anderson, Registered Psychotherapist
Robert has over 17 years of experience in Mental Health and Addiction. His work has focused on complex trauma, PTSD, addiction, and general mental health issues. He currently is in private practice and also trains and supervises qualifying psychotherapists. He has developed a technique that enables people to process trauma, conducted lectures on his theoretical orientation, taught university courses, and researches the clinical use of psychedelics in his spare time.
His therapeutic approach is humanistic and considers the biopsychosocial spiritual model designed to get to the root issue. He has been influenced by various psychological approaches including, Jungian Theory, Object Relations, and Attachment Theory. He also incorporates somatic techniques and a mindfulness approach into his work. He is interested in working with people to help foster change that is both realistic and attainable. His approach is flexible and creative giving the individual what is required to help foster the change that is needed.
On the research side, his Ph.D. thesis investigated the North American shaman's experience of the Altered State of Consciousness. He used Carl Jung’s theory of the Collective Unconscious to inform his findings. He is also very interested in the use of psychedelics for therapeutic outcomes and is studying psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy and plans on working and researching in this area exclusively.
