With the Government of Canada, we’re pleased to support the expansion of the world's largest wastewater energy transfer project in the City of Markham through an investment of up to $8.2 million. This large-scale investment will result in:
🍃 the installation of a heat recovery system through Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Low Carbon Economy Fund, significantly reducing MDE’s existing district energy system’s CO2 emissions
🍃 the installation of a 500-kilowatt biomass pellet boiler and the development of a Low Carbon Energy Centre in Markham’s downtown core, providing residents from three different complexes with a more sustainable heat source

Through home retrofits, Canadians can make their homes more energy-efficient, contributing to lower GHG emissions and reducing utility bills. FCM and the Government of Canada are pleased to announce a $5.4 million investment through the Green Municipal Fund’s Community Efficiency Financing (CEF) program to implement a Clean Energy Improvement Program in the City of Medicine Hat, AB.
This investment will support 258 retrofits, resulting in the reduction of 950 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year as well as the creation of 80 new jobs.
