Our Heart and Stroke PALS program is ideal for your professional needs.

You will be able to practise and train in dynamic role-playing situations that mirror real life and that will help you in your role as a healthcare provider. You will be introduced to a wide range of life-threatening, all-hands-on-deck scenarios involving pediatric patients experiencing respiratory emergencies, shock and cardiopulmonary arrest in which you apply a systematic approach that includes the evaluate-identify-intervene sequence. The goal is to strengthen your ability to recognize, intervene, communicate and work effectively as a critical member of a healthcare team.
Heart & Stroke’s PALS program, based on the 2020 Guidelines, provides hands-on learning that builds on your Basic Life Support (BLS) skills, teaches you when and how to use the latest treatment recommendations for your patients, and takes your skills as an advanced healthcare provider to the next level.

Our Stay Safe course is 5-6 hours and excellent for children ages 9 to 13. This course teaches applicable and age-appropriate skills, while increasing and reinforcing a youth’s capacity to improve his or her own safety for children.

The Stay Safe course includes information on:
• Responsibility and respect while being accountable for yourself
• Importance of setting and following rules around safety when staying on your own
• How to stay safe at home and within the community
• How to prepare, recognize and respond to unexpected situations, (i.e. inclement weather, strangers, unanticipated visits)

First Aid Content:
• Check, Call, Care (includes phoning EMS/911)
• Recovery position
• Conscious choking (adult/child/alone)
• Feeling unwell
• Asthma (includes use of inhaler and spacer)
• Anaphylaxis (includes use of EpiPen)
• Poisoning

Blended learning is a new, alternative format for students to access the knowledge and skills they need. The blended learning courses combine online learning and in-person training to offer a comprehensive experience with lots of benefits. Blended learning is a low-barrier option that caters to various learning styles, student needs, and schedules.

A blended learning course covers the same course curriculum and teaches the same skills as an instructor-led only course. Successful completion of the full course yields a Standard First Aid Provider completion card.
