Meditation has fallen away from me over the last few months. However I have been committing to my meditation over the past few days and it’s incredible how my mind just dives right back in. Some days my mind is unruly; others it jumps into the stillness without hesitation.
I even had visitor. Must have been the Bee Breath 🐝

Snow days are perfect for yoga 🙏🏻 the natural rhythms of nature remind us that there are seasons and times for all things. Sometimes we ride high- sometimes we ride low. Trust that it will return to balance. And trust that the snowblower will start so you can plow through a foot of snow to get out of the drive way. Same same.

It’s an inside job. In yoga, great Sages have studied the mind and found that subconscious mind contains Samskaras which are subconscious beliefs that are strengthened with habit and attachment. SIDE NOTE: not all Samskaras are bad or negative- it’s really any habit: positive or negative.
Brain science is now proving what this ancient knowledge has known all along. Our brains are neuroplastic- meaning we can change our habits, attachments, deep seated thoughts and beliefs to benefit our lives and the world around us.
Yoga is a bridge from the inner wisdom and knowledge we all have access to- our connectedness with the Divine- AND our actions, thoughts, and words. Let the inner work begin!

This leads me to curiosity… what am I here to create? How can I make a difference in my own life and those around me? I am so curious about this life and everything I experience.

For me Yoga is the space where I can search for deeper meaning within. In the postures I find ease and strength, flow and stillness. I’ve returned to the mat time after time- and each time I find deeper truth and meaning. But you can only find that for yourself, it cannot be handed to you. Are you ready? 😁♥️🙏🏻

Fun fact! Before my current profession as a First Responder, I was a personal trainer and group fitness instructor! I LOVED teaching fitness- empowering women to feel confident and strong in their bodies. Join me on Saturdays at 9 am for a 45 minute body weight circuit style class, where you’ll improve mobility, gain strength, and challenge cardiovascular stamina! Whoo!! Let’s go 🙏🏻💪🏻
New class starting December 2 with Dana, Hummingbird MOVE!
In this 45 minute body-weight class, you will improve vitality and increase your energy through interval training and circuits. Training in this manner, back to back exercises, increases your heart rate and burns fat- firing your metabolism for the day. This class is a perfect blend of mobility for the joints, working the cardiovascular system, and increasing muscle strength. Moving your body daily is vital for health and wellness, both in your mind and body. As always, you can expect to be met wherever you are on your journey and your abilities! All levels are welcome.

Another gem from Zen and the Art of Saving the Planet. Yoga and Zen (which is meditation) go hand in hand. When we use meditation to look deeply into our life, our beliefs, and our actions and we can begin to see the truth- the root of these beliefs.
Resting is resisting what we’ve been told we should be doing… that we need to grind and hustle… we need to achieve XYZ… if we rest we feel guilty or lazy.. but is that the truth?
How do we take this into our practise?
Next time you step on the mat, see if you can resist the urge to compete, strive, and push yourself through the practise. I encourage you to be present in your body and awareness and move through shapes with ease and loving kindness. Rest easy friends 🙏🏻

I am taking a course through Plum Village, a monastery founded by Thich Nhat Hanh, called Zen and the Art of Saving the Planet. It looks deeply into the pain and suffering as a society and the planet herself. Learning to build resilience, find peace within, and take meaningful action.

Today as I reflect on Truth and Reconciliation, I am reminded that to understand and deeply listen to someone’s TRUTH- is LOVE. I understand that doing the work to honour another person, loving accept, and value them is also LOVE.
I am grateful for Chief Cadmus Delorme’s beautiful and heartbreaking keynote speech a few weeks ago. He said “we inherited this” and “we are all treaty people”.
There is no need to hide in shame and guilt-that is not in alignment with love. We must accept the hard feeling and embody love for all people to truly live Truth and Reconciliation.
I choose love.
Thank you to all my amazing indigenous friends and people I have come to know. I am grateful for all the teachings I have received and with an open heart and love I will continue to learn and be open.
