St. Bonaventure's College Admissions
St. Bonaventure’s College is an independent K-12 school
We are an independent K-12 school that believes that curiosity and creativity are the cornerstones of a good education.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.
At St. Bon’s, students in our hockey program get three hours of on-ice and one hour of dry-land training built into their weekly school schedules. What can we say? We take athletics just as seriously as academics.
Our school website is currently offline due to a network outage at the datacenter. They are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
In June, we celebrate , , , and . At St. Bon’s, we value inclusivity and diversity, and we strive to create safe spaces where students of all backgrounds and identities can reach their full potential.
What makes our Hockey Program unlike any other in the province? We partnered with XTREME Hockey, so our students get intensive and personalized training led by professional coaches – including ex-NHL players. What can we say? We know when to go XTREME.
We know that questions are more important than answers. So when students are taught the importance of critical thinking and curiosity, there’s so much more to discover.
We believe teamwork is just as important as homework. That’s why our Hockey Program coordinates with students’ academic schedules, so learning to be a team player is part of the curriculum.
Every child deserves the opportunity to flourish. Which is why we have a Bursary program in place to help local families with the cost of tuition. And the look on your child’s face when they tell you about their day? That will be priceless.
We have 13 Ukrainian students here at St. Bon’s. Students like Glib. We believe in helping our community and teaching students global citizenship, and we believe in leading by example.

Ms. Brenda Gatherall, our K-6 music teacher, is also a founding member of Lady Cove Women’s Choir, a longtime member of the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra, and she volunteers with the Rotary Music Festival organizing committee. No wonder she is able to make our students' hearts sing.
We know that the world needs more people with compassion, empathy, and respect for those around them. That’s why we teach each student how to be a good fish, no matter the pond.

From math and science to leadership and environmentalism, when our students are asked what they learned at school, they can answer with more than just a shrug.
We know that good people make good students. Which is why in 2023 our graduating students had a 100% university acceptance rate and were awarded over $500,000 in scholarships. Not bad.
Due to extensive illness within our school community, it is with regret that we have to cancel the Alumni Dinner and Awards, scheduled to take place tomorrow, May 14th.
Mark Twain said: “Don’t let school get in the way of a good education.” We couldn’t agree more, Mark. That’s why our first focus is teaching life skills, leadership, empathy, and social justice.
We know that if we focus on developing the whole student and their interests, academic success is inevitable. Just look at Isis. On any day, you might find her singing in two of our choirs, expressing herself through painting, or out on the volleyball court with the Senior Girls’ team. But you’ll also find her on the President’s Honour Roll.
Caring and engaged teachers and staff are vital to student success. That’s why we’re lucky to have people like Ms. Annette Mallay. A member of the Leadership Team, Annette also serves on all school committees, organizes all extracurriculars, and knows all our students by name. Her unofficial title? School Mom.
Our students volunteer more than 24,000 hours every year – with our high school students each having at least 90 hours of volunteer time. We’d call that time well spent, wouldn't you?
Who says extracurriculars have to be, well, extra? At St. Bon’s, we encourage students to explore our 20+ extracurricular activities, so they can discover their passion.
Meet our President and Head of School, Mr. Stephen Handrigan. A seasoned educator with more than 35 years of teaching, leading, and directing within schools, he also knows how to hit the right note. As a baritone soloist, Stephen has appeared in Broadway musicals, on CBC Radio, and was a member of the Canadian Opera Company Chorus. Bravo!
Perfect attendance isn’t everything. Every now and then, our students skip class for volunteer opportunities and community engagement. But their university acceptance rate? A perfect 100%.
We know that questions are more important than answers. So when our students are taught the importance of critical thinking and curiosity, you never know what else they might discover.
At St. Bon’s we know that not all learning happens in the classroom. Which is why we offer 20+ extra-curricular programs like hockey, yoga, debate club, gardening, choir, band, beekeeping, and art, to name a few.
We know when to go Xtreme. That’s why our Hockey Program is unlike any other in the province. We’ve partnered with Xtreme Hockey to offer expert coaches (including ex-NHL players), personalized hockey training, and coordinated scheduling to work around their academics. Want to learn more? RSVP for our Hockey Information Night, 6:30pm on April 25 at Mullock Hall.
We believe that teamwork is just as important as homework. We believe in encouraging our students to explore their interests and find their passion. In Charlotte’s case, not only is she on the President's Honour Roll, she plays soccer and volleyball. She volunteers with computers for seniors. And plays in the Wind Ensemble, Traditional Jazz, and Phoenix Jazz Bands. Now that’s what we call a well-rounded education.
Did you know that we have graduated 28 Rhodes Scholars? That’s more than any other K-12 school in Canada. We believe that education includes more than academics and it seems like Oxford agrees. Just ask Michael O’Keefe, Rhode Scholar from our class of 2013.
