Do you suffer from persistent neck and upper back pain? Often, the root cause lies in weak or underused muscles that are crucial for shoulder stability and overall upper body health. 💪 Strengthening your serratus anterior can transform your upper body health by:

Enhancing shoulder stability

Kettlebell pull-throughs can be beneficial for strengthening and stabilizing your shoulder muscles, but whether they will stop your shoulder from clicking depends on the underlying cause of the clicking. Shoulder clicking can result from various issues, such as:

Muscle Imbalance: Strengthening exercises, including kettlebell pull-throughs, can help address muscle imbalances.
Joint Issues: If the clicking is due to a joint problem (e.g., labral tear, cartilage wear), you might need specific interventions or exercises targeting the joint.
Tendon Issues: Tendon inflammation or irritation can cause clicking, and specific tendon-strengthening exercises may be more appropriate.
It's crucial to identify the exact cause of your shoulder clicking. Book an appointment at Synergy or consult your healthcare provider.

Did you know that your posture plays a significant role in your back health? Proper posture isn't just about standing tall; it's about maintaining the natural curves of your spine and reducing stress on your muscles and ligaments.
When we slouch or hunch over, whether sitting at a desk or looking at our phones, we place extra strain on our back muscles and spinal discs. Over time, this can lead to chronic back pain, muscle imbalances, and even spinal deformities.
Remember, small changes in your posture can lead to significant improvements in your back health. Make a conscious effort to check your posture throughout the day, and your back will thank you! 💪✨

Three Things Our Physios Would Never Do:

Sleep on Their Stomach at Night: Our physiotherapists know the importance of maintaining proper spinal alignment even while sleeping. Sleeping on your stomach can cause unnecessary strain on your neck and back, leading to discomfort and potential long-term issues. We always recommend sleeping on your back or side with a supportive pillow to keep your spine in a neutral position.

Stretch a Muscle That Has Been Strained: It's crucial to understand the difference between a healthy stretch and aggravating an injury. Stretching a strained muscle can cause further damage and delay the healing process. Instead, our physios focus on gentle movements and specific exercises that promote healing and strengthen the surrounding muscles without causing additional strain.

Look Down at Their Phone: With the rise of technology, we’re often guilty of looking down at our phones for prolonged periods. This posture can lead to “tech neck,” a condition where the neck muscles become strained from looking down too much. Our physios make a conscious effort to hold their phones at eye level and take regular breaks to stretch and reset their posture. Remember, your body will thank you for these small changes!

As physiotherapists, our goal is to educate and empower you to take care of your body. By avoiding these habits, you can prevent unnecessary pain and promote long-term health. 💪✨
