The 1922 Canada West Easter War Cry Cover.
On August 15, 1907 the first Salvation Army camp was opened by Commander Evangeline Booth at a farm in Oakville. On May 10, 1910 the camp moved to Clarkson, Ontario. Here are a couple of pictures of the Scout Camp on that location. (Our earliest known pictures of Salvation Army Camping)
You are not seeing things wrong. Here are some printing engraving blocks, in reverse, from the 1970's . These very heavy metal stamps were used to make the headers on the Young Soldier and War Cry.
A picture from the past 1913/1914 and a shout out to the Owen Sound Corps.

Here are pictures of the 1922 Commissioning programs for the Canada East and West Territories.
The earliest known named session of cadets was the 1909-1910 Toronto Session - The Champions.
The Archives has a vast collection of these programs dating back to 1920. Sadly, we are missing programs before that date, as well as some sessions in the early 1930's.
If you have copies of these earlier Commissioning programs, we would be interested in receiving copies.
The Archives are actively looking for Officer's trim to add to our collection. We are currently looking for Probationary Lieutenant, Probationary Captain, Ensign, Adjutant, Commandant, Staff Captain, Staff Major, Senior Major, and Lieutenant Commissioner's trim. We would also be interested in 1890's Commissioner and Colonel trim.
Please contact us if you can help.
The Salvation Army Archives is actively looking to collect old style Christmas kettle stands. If your Corps has a vintage stand it would like to add to the archives to start our collection, please make contact with us. We are also interested in old pictures of Christmas kettles.

Acronym ˈakrəˌnim’ is defined as an abbreviation formed from the initial letters of other words and pronounced as a word (e.g. TC, DC, CO, etc.). In the Salvation Army, we are often accused of having our own language because of the many acronyms we use. We are currently collecting and creating a comprehensive list of current and past acronyms used in the Army. If you have a list, or suggestion send it to us, and we will collate them together.
