Breakfast time at mother of monarchs B&B
Split proboscis :(
But Mama was able to repair!!! If I was unable to repair it for her she never would have survived. You've seen the thousand times in my videos when they close their first job is to zip that proboscis and this is clearly a case where she didn't.
A beautiful eclose
A magical place
FUN FACT..........
It's a girl! You see that indented little line between the black dots at the top of this chrysalis? That tells you that this Crystal is contains a female monarch... there is no line here with the boys
If you want to attract a lot of butterflies and a cornucopia of pollinators such as hummingbirds hummingbird moths leaf cutter bees bumble bees honey bees and the likes, the giant zinnia flower is your best bet! If you pull off the heads when they are dry you can save the seeds for next year and replant in soil about 6 weeks before summer and they grow to be absolute Giants! So easy to grow and free after the first year! They not only do well in pots but you can plant them right in your garden beds. They are long-lasting flowers that will take you right through the summer into fall and are an excellent source of pollen!
They come up in a million different colors and a thousand different shapes and sizes and are just an absolute joy to behold. Bonus tip they come up so abundantly that you can afford yourself a cut bouquet now and then and they last forever
Don't forget if you ever see a butterfly with a tag on it to go to monarchwatch.com and report it so that it's originating address can be discovered! My greatest dream would be to get that notification and certificate that one of my monarchs has made it to Mexico
Just look at the flex on this male migrator!

Horizontal bop!
3 male and one female take flight today... with numbers being so low this year I have to say that each perfect monarch taking flight brings me so much joy that I am moved to tears. Please do what you can to help our precious endangered migrating Eastern monarch... at the very least plant your milkweed!
Perfect first releases
3 boys released this week
11 whopping Beauties this year so far only... the world is in a sad State of Affairs the Monarch is an indicator species that she is now endangered should speak to us all. By now 300
Milkweed haven here in the Niagara region, Ontario. Canada... I have two varieties of milkweed possibly three actually, and some of it is 6 ft tall and in full bloom so beautifully fragrant and I have patches in new gardens that are just wee little tiny inchlings... I usually start collecting my first found eggs at the end of May each year and this year everyone is reporting the same thing.. no monarchs to be seen. Our precious Monarch has been put on the endangered species list very low numbers reported in the overwintering forest of Mexico and with all of the previous threats that our Monarch faced now she is having to deal with intense 5G and wildfires. I'm certain that these two factors are making the situation even worse however on June 26th 29th and 30th, a beautiful female at last a little worse for the wear has found my Oasis otherwise known as the mother of monarchs bed and breakfast! Now we just have to get this girl a date!
June 25th 2023 have been getting very discouraged as no one seems to be seeing monarchs here at all so I went on a little drive around the corner to a milkweed field that I know of and was hell bent not to come home empty-handed and lo and behold soak to the Bone in a torrential rainstorm I came home with these first 3 instars!
Is this film does not insight absolute awe and the incredible desire to save our now endangered monarch butterfly then nothing will!
The Mysteries and Miracles of our precious Monarch are so well portrayed in this film and it is so beautifully shot! Please have a watch and don't forget, plant your milkweed!
