lleTTonna is a Canadian organization whose mission is to help mothers and their families thrive throughout pregnancy and the postpartum period via the development of innovative and personalized mental healthcare technologies.

This project aims to (1) identify the most common legal challenges women face while navigating mental health supports through the postpartum period in Canada, and (2) create plain language, easy to digest, legal education materials that can demystify and inform the public (specifically mothers and their families) on how to navigate these intersecting legal issues.

Halton Community Legal Services ("HCLS") is one of more than 70 community legal clinics funded by Legal Aid Ontario to provide legal services throughout Ontario. Each legal clinic tries to match its services to meet the priority needs of the community it serves.

Students will work remotely with their assigned Lawyer Supervisor to assist them with their caseload. Typical tasks include legal research, litigation document preparation, hearing preparation, client follow up, and letter writing. Students will also have opportunities to engage with the clinic’s community development work and public legal education activities.

We are excited to partner with HCLS for this project. The full project description will be posted on our website on August 20th! Come to our info event on August 25th at 6:00 PM to learn more about the projects available - Register by following the link in our bio.

In Ontario, artists with legal issues or questions are often referred to clinics that focus on entertainment law, contracts, and copyright issues. As a result, legal information on complex intersecting legal issues that artists commonly face is often inaccessible to those that need it due to systematic barriers. This project aims to provide public legal education materials, tailored specifically to artists, that provide a holistic approach of care and support. Students will conduct research and develop a plain language guide that gives basic legal information on a collection of issues artists commonly face in labour and employment, tenancy, immigration, health and disability, criminal, and human rights matters.

We are excited to partner with CARFAC Ontario for this project - an association of professional visual and media artists in Ontario working to ensure artists' rights are respected. The full project description will be posted on our website on August 20th! Come to our info event on August 25th at 6:00 PM to learn more about the projects available - Register by following the link in our bio.

Applications will be available on August 23rd and we will hold a virtual information session on the evening of August 25th to assist with the process. More details to come soon!
