Dr. Adam Bletsoe
http://insig.ht/dradambletsoe --> Teacher on Insight Timer (the worlds most used guided meditation app)
Yesterday, we had the privilege of sharing at Wellness Wednesdays with our wonderful neighbors at Kids Connect Daycare.
The event focused on mindfulness and self-care, offering a much-needed break to reconnect with ourselves and our surroundings.
To create a more intimate and engaging experience, we divided into smaller groups for deeper reflection and interaction. Together, we explored the importance of taking moments for ourselves throughout the day and practiced a key mindfulness technique called “orienting.”
Orienting involves bringing attention to the present moment by focusing on our surroundings—sounds, sights, smells— and the sensations of within our body. This practice enhances presence and awareness, helping to reduce stress, improve focus, and foster a sense of calm.
Easily integrated into daily routines, orienting helps us stay grounded and centered, even during busy or overwhelming times.
Thank you, Kids Connect Daycare, for having us.

Compassion starts with being gentle with yourself. Be kind to yourself today.
When was the last time you gave yourself a hug?
So often we are quick to hug a loved one in need when they are feeling low. What if we return that favour to ourselves.
I challenge you to give yourself a hug today. You deserve it.
Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR) is an exercise that helps you access the deepest levels of rest and recovery so you can feel calm and energized again.
NSDR is a simple and effective way to:
1. Boost recovery.
2. Make up some sleep.
3. Bolster learning and thinking, reset after feeling stressed.
This exercise could be used 1-2 times/week to deepen access to your deep recovery circuits, daily during a challenging time or as a first-aid technique when overwhelm occurs.
Enjoy your deep rest.

Self care is a form of self love. It matters how we show up for ourselves.
This was music to my ears. The reasoning being we need to remind ourselves not to wait until we are in pain but to listen to how our body responds when we set ourselves up for success first thing in the morning.
Have you given yourself some extra love this morning?
In this talk I’ll describe three phrases that represent attitudes of a resilient mindset, what I like to call “bounce” (as in, “can I bounce when I fall?”)
I’ll briefly introduce the concept of a resilient mindset, explain its benefits then review three attitudes that will help cultivate it. Each attitude is represented by a short phrase or affirmation that you can take with you on your journey.
Join me in this short talk that will help you come back from hardships with more bounce.

This morning I had a great conversation with one of my patients. They said to me “After my visit I’m able to go down a gear” what a great POV.
When we are able to take a few extra moments for ourselves when we come in for our treatment our body really responds in amazing ways.
We have some favourite techniques that will help you with this.
1. The basic exercises
2. 4-7-8 Breathing
3. Vagues Neck Stretch
This three techniques will help you gear down not just before your adjustment but can also be used at any point in the day to calm the mind and body.
Next time you’re in let us walk you through one. Take your pick!
This a bold statement and very powerful.
Conversation that take place in the clinic often stick with me and the truth is it really doesn’t matter how slowly you are going as long as you don’t stop.
The goal is to feel less and less like giving up.
Every small step will get us one step closer to the top of the mountain. Just keep climbing.
I recently published a little talk (10 min) talk on Insight Timer called “Why I like Progressive Muscle Relaxation”.
In it I share my top three reasons I chose to get rid of my muscle tension for good.
Let’s ease those tight nagging tension feelings for good.
Happy listening!

Since just before the COVID lock down I’ve been recording meditations for my patients to use.
I loved the feedback I got from those who used my meditations. They kind and gracious. I felt connected to those listeners.
However, when the lockdown ended I jumped back into the practice and I stopped recording.
Late last year I asked myself what I wanted to bring more of into my life. Sharing my meditations was the answer.
So, last week we began by creating a Medi Menu of a selection of our meditations. This is the poster we put up in the clinic.
Patients can scan the QR code and go right to the meditation on InsightTimer.com

Thanks for meditating with me.
Change is Stress. “The pain started a while ago but I didn’t do anything and now it won’t go away”
When we investigate in the clinic, here’s generally what we learn…
There was no major injury, accident or trauma that would explain the annoying pain.
There might have been a little tweak in a movement when it began.
The pain kind of came out of nowhere.
The pain now persists longer than expected.
Now what can you do?
We can look a little deeper, we often learn there is no damage, but there was a sudden change in our routine.
All that change cost your brain and body more energy to keep balance.
The solution? Begin to gently bring your system back into balance with trusted routines and rituals.
Play to your capacity, not your capability.
Be so gentle with your change. The change you’re trying to make is a sensitive space. Push too hard and your old patters will take over in defence.
Give yourself permission to go slow. Take small steps. Remember outcomes are the result of actions over time.
Happy journey. See you soon.
