WONDERFUL opportunity from our Friends over at Nautanki नौटंकी Creations:
About Nautanki Creations:
In July 2020, Nautanki Creations was founded by a group of performing artists in direct response to the pandemic; in less then a year, we have become known a widely respected platform for sharing ideas, and have created and facilitated a wide range of arts education programming and innovative artistic works, with a mission to encourage, support and facilitate cross-cultural collaboration between artists based in Canada and India, our two home countries.
We launched our collective with the “7 Days of Nautanki” festival, where we shared 7 new and innovative works by our communities in Canada and India, all of whom were artistically experimenting in the virtual realm for the first time.
This summer, in celebration of our one-year anniversary, we are experimenting by launching a new "Artist Date Series" to connect artists from Canada and India. Our team now consists of three artists - Ankita Alemona, Nidhi Baadkar and Nidhil Vohra, connected by our belief in the power of the arts and our roots in Canada and India.
About the Artist Date Series:
This year, we will (virtually) bring together 7 artists from Canada and 7 artists from India to collaborate with one another through our new “artist date” series. This idea has come out of the recognition of how isolating this past year has been for many artists, due to the incredible loss of work or industry has faced.
In this series, we will select and “pair up” 7 artists from India with 7 artists from Canada to work together throughout July 2021.
Pairs will “meet” one another based on their own schedules and availability in July and then be invited to premiere their collective creations virtually at our Nautanki Creations festival. In the past, our festival has garnered over 15,000 views online.
You can find more information on our website:
www.nautankicreations.com/artistdate
I would greatly appreciate it if you could share our upcoming initiatives (poster attached) in whatever way is reasonable / do-able for you (eg. to your network on your social media platforms / channels). We will have more information and further details about our program and the festival as we go along!
Please note that the application for the artist date series is due in 5 days on June 11th, 2021. We have gotten a lot of applications from absolutely phonemanomal artists in India and are now working hard to connect to emerging artists in Canada. Please do forward this application to anyone who you feel would benefit from and enjoy this kind of cross-cultural program!
