Men over 50, you already know that as you age, staying healthy and active becomes increasingly difficult. But did you know that losing your balance can cause severe pain, injuries, and even disability👨🦽?
As you get older, you may start to notice that your coordination and flexibility aren't as sharp as they used to be. 🤔You may struggle with everyday activities like climbing stairs, bending down to pick something up, or simply standing up from a chair. And the fear of falling can be overwhelming, causing anxiety, stress, and isolation.
But don't let your age or physical limitations stop you from living your life to the fullest.😎 There are plenty of ways to improve your balance and maintain your physical health.
By strengthening your core, legs, and hips through exercises like lunges, squats, and planks, you can improve your balance and stability, which can help prevent falls and injuries. Activities like yoga, tai chi, and Pilates can also help you regain control of your movements, improve your coordination, and reduce stress and anxiety.
The truth is, maintaining your balance is crucial for your physical and mental health. Losing your balance can lead to severe injuries, hospitalizations, and a loss of independence. But you have the power to take control of your health and improve your balance. 💪
So don't wait until it's too late. Start taking action today, and prioritize your health and well-being. It's time to regain your balance, confidence, and independence. 👊
Men over 50! 😎 It's time to face the hard truth: as we age, our legs become weaker, and it can drastically impact our quality of life. It's not just about looking good or performing everyday tasks with ease anymore. It's about avoiding the unbearable pain and suffering that comes with a loss of mobility.
Think about it. 🤔How many times have you struggled to get out of a chair or walk up a flight of stairs? How many times have you lost your balance or felt unsteady on your feet? These are all warning signs that your legs are not as strong as they used to be, and if you don't take action now, you may suffer a debilitating fall or injury that could rob you of your independence and freedom.
But it's not just physical pain that you need to worry about. It's the mental anguish that comes with a loss of mobility. 🚽 It's the frustration of not being able to do the things you once loved, the fear of being a burden on your loved ones and them having to help you get off the toilet, and the feeling of helplessness that comes with the realization that you may never regain your strength.
But it doesn't have to be this way. 💪 You can take control of your health and your future by prioritizing leg strength training. By committing to a regular routine of squats, lunges, deadlifts, and leg presses, you can rebuild the muscles that support your body and keep you stable and balanced.
It's not going to be easy. 🥵 It's going to take hard work, dedication, and a willingness to push yourself to your limits. But the payoff is worth it. You'll feel stronger, more confident, and more capable of taking on the challenges that come your way.
Don't let your legs hold you back any longer. 🏋️♂️Take action now, and start rebuilding your strength, your health, and your future. You owe it to yourself and to the people who love you to be the best version of yourself that you can be. So what are you waiting for? Let's get started!
Attention, gentlemen over 50!!! Are you feeling the impact of sarcopenia on your body and your life? 🥴 Maybe you've noticed your muscles getting weaker, your balance less stable, or even the loss of your independence. The pain of watching your body slowly decline is real, but there is hope.
Here are some steps you can take to slow down or even reverse the effects of sarcopenia 😎:
👉Exercise regularly, especially with strength training and resistance exercises. 💪
👉Incorporate aerobic exercises like walking, cycling, or swimming to maintain fitness and mobility. 🏃
👉Consume adequate amounts of high-quality protein to build and repair muscle tissue.
👉Eat a balanced diet that includes plenty of nutrient-rich fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
👉Manage stress, get enough restful sleep, and avoid unhealthy habits like smoking and excessive drinking.
Speak to your doctor or a qualified fitness professional for guidance.🧑⚕️
Don't let sarcopenia control your life. Take action now to maintain your independence and enjoy a higher quality of life. You deserve it!
The REAL REASON you may be struggling with your fat loss goals! 🤔 This was a picture of me on vacation in July, 2022, and one from yesterday. How have I stayed lean like this for the last 3 years?
There is a secret, but it may not be what you think. Most people seek a special diet, workout routine, or some “magic pill” to help them get and stay lean. I followed a 16:8 fasting protocol until Sept 1, 2022 when I started bulking and preparing for my April 1 physique competition (coming up in 4 weeks). It wasn’t intermittent fasting that kept and got me ripped though.
That was just a tool, but any diet protocol will work.
What got and kept me lean is my identity. When I did my first physique competition at 48, I saw the potential of what I could look like at 50. Then I became obsessed with that person in my mind. I no longer identified with the average person I used to be, but this new person was my new reality.
How did this happen? I raised my standards and committed to being that person on a daily basis. I visualized that person in my morning routine. Anytime I came up against an obstacle (like a food craving or not feeling like getting out of bed at 4 am), I asked myself, what would that lean ripped 50-year-old do?
Did this make it easier? Of course not, but it allowed me to raise my standards and increase the probability to follow through on my commitments. Most people struggle with fat loss and body composition because of their feelings. “I don’t feel like getting out of bed”, “I don’t feel like going to the gym”, “that food would really taste good, I’ll just have one”. Your feelings are getting in the way of your dream body. Raise your standards and listen to what your ideal self would do in that situation. Hope this helps.
So, now for the elephant in the room. Let’s talk about STEROID use.
This picture was from Oct 2021. I was 51 and it was a couple of days after placing 1st place in Grand Masters Physique in the VanCity showdown NATURAL SHOW. There were 6 competitors over 50 which is unusual. Most of the time, only 1 or 2 people show up over 50 in Natural competitions.
Im 5 weeks out from my next competition in Kelowna, BC Natural show on April 1. I will be getting leaner and leaner each week.
I get asked all the time, am I on TRT, HGH, or steroids 🤔? A lot of times they are accusations, and I get it. I sometimes even think someone is taking PED’s because of how they look. So, to set the record, I AM NOT taking any PED’s of any kind. All of these substances are banned and tested at the shows I compete in.
Whenever I post pictures like this, I either get the trolls who are selling PED’s trying to sell people who comment on my post, or people who say I’m lying, and just a few who believe and are amazed you can look like this naturally over 50.
First of all, I am not big. At 6’1, in this picture, I only weigh 167 lbs. The problem with pictures like this is you have no comparison, and the leaner you get, the bigger you look. If there was an enhanced person standing next to me, I would look tiny, or if I was wearing a t-shirt, nobody would even notice me.
I have seen it myself. I’ve seen a physique competitor on stage, and then I see them in real life with a shirt on and they look completely different. They are small and unrecognizable.
It’s true, I will never get any bigger without taking PED’s, but I am not trying to get bigger, just trying to shape my genetic potential and no more. To get lean like me takes discipline and that is where most people fail. They are not willing to be disciplined with their diet to shed the body fat to reveal the muscle underneath, PERIOD!
It’s easier for them to say PED’s. That way they don’t have to change. “Well, I’m not lean, because I wouldn’t want to take PED’s”. What they’re really doing is revealing something about themselves, not me. If you argue for your limitations, you get to keep them.
I know where I am. I know the hard work and price I pay to look this way. It’s not for everyone. Anyone can do it, but most are not willing to put in the work. For me, it has changed everything. For being lean and jacked over 50 has been the greatest fountain of youth I have found. It gives me amazing confidence and I feel like Im in my 20’s again. You can’t put a price tag on that!
Why is no one talking about this? Being in good physical shape can have a positive impact on sexual performance and enjoyment for men over 50 😎. Regular exercise and maintaining a healthy weight can improve cardiovascular health and circulation, which can help with erectile function. Exercise can also improve muscle strength and endurance, which can help with the physical aspects of sexual activity.
Physical fitness can also have a positive impact on overall health and well-being, which can help to improve sexual desire and confidence. A good physical shape can also boost energy levels, which can improve sexual stamina and endurance.
On the other hand, being overweight and having chronic health conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease can negatively affect sexual function and enjoyment. These conditions can lead to erectile dysfunction, which can make it difficult for men to achieve and maintain an er****on 😒.
It is important to note that sexual performance and enjoyment can also be affected by other factors such as stress, relationship issues, and mental health conditions. However, being in good physical shape can help improve overall health and well-being and can help to mitigate these factors 💪.
It is always recommended for men over 50 to speak with their healthcare provider about any concerns related to sexual function, and to discuss any potential risk factors for sexual dysfunction. Doctors will often recommend pharmaceuticals to improve sexual performance. However, this is just a band-aid and there is always the potential risk of side effects. Try the natural route first.
As men over 50, the battle to maintain a healthy body and mind can be a constant struggle. And one of the biggest obstacles standing in our way is a lack of proper sleep 😴. Not only does it leave us feeling tired and groggy, but it also takes a toll on our physical health.
Lack of sleep leads to an increase in cortisol, a hormone responsible for storing fat, particularly in the abdominal area. It also decreases the production of growth hormone, essential for muscle growth and repair. This can be incredibly frustrating and disheartening, especially as we get older.
But it doesn't have to be this way. We can take control of our sleep and finally achieve our fitness goals 💪. By creating a sleep-conducive environment, establishing a consistent sleep schedule and incorporating sleep-promoting activities into our routine, such as yoga or meditation, reading a book or taking a warm bath before bed, we can not only improve our overall well-being but also see the physical results we've been striving for.
Don't let poor sleep hold you back from being the best version of yourself 😎. Take control of your health and well-being today. By prioritizing sleep, you'll not only feel better mentally but also see the physical results you've been working hard for. It's time to take action and achieve the body and mind you deserve. "
As men over 50, we all have a common goal - to maintain a healthy body and mind 😎. But with the constant demands of work, family, and life, it can be difficult to achieve this goal. One of the biggest obstacles standing in our way is stress.
Stress not only takes a toll on our mental health 🥴, but it also wreaks havoc on our physical health. It causes an increase in cortisol, a hormone that leads to abdominal fat storage, making it nearly impossible to lose fat and build muscle. This can be incredibly frustrating and disheartening, especially as we get older 😒.
But it doesn't have to be this way. By managing stress, we can take control of our health and reach our fitness goals. By incorporating stress management techniques such as yoga and meditation, deep breathing exercises, regular exercise, getting enough sleep, eating a healthy diet, and spending time with loved ones, we can not only reduce stress but also improve our overall well-being.
Don't let stress hold you back from being the best version of yourself. Take control of your health and well-being today. By managing stress, you'll not only feel better mentally, but you'll also see the physical results you've been striving for. It's time to take action and achieve the body and mind you deserve 💪.
Men over 50, what are you waiting for?
Happy Sunday. My one day of the week that I do fasted resistance training. Fueled by black coffee and stored glucose from the night before. No problem with energy.
Body fat measurement right before dexa scan with my handheld device.
Today's fasted cardio- putting course challenge with Caelan. Not as many calories burned as yesterday's hike, but great game none the less. I think most of the calories burned were from the hot sun.
