It's been 4 months since his amputation.
I don't wish what we went through and are still going through on anyone.

I'm stopping to write today. To reflect. I've spent the better part of the last few months wondering if running this business would ever feel safe or happy again.

Today, felt familiar and like a comforting hug from an old friend.
There are still challenges with Cory's health and running the business with him, and his well being centered is the only way forward.
I've created ways to ensure he can do what he needs to find his way back to health. He goes for medical appointments weekly. He gets out for walks and started therapy to deal with all he/we are facing.

Life can feel like it lacks compassion, and what we have learned through all of this is how to be resilient and take each day as it comes. We've learned how to ask for help. We've learned that we have really amazing friends and customers and are supported in everything we do.
That's why we can be here today, open, smiling, and serving.

Life looks nothing like we had planned a year after re-opening, and we will take it.
Our new life cost us our old one.

Today, he did dishes, sorted reciepts, and paid bills. I swirled around my make shift kitchen serving food I'm passionate about. Toni is the perfect addition to our operation. We had a health inspection yesterday (which is my favorite thing, literally), and the inspectors' comments made our day. Despite everything, our operation is clean and safe, and we were commended for how we run our little facility.

All of the things that really matter really matter, and we are proud of all we do.
In life.
In business.
In love.

I feel like the tide is turning for us.
The sun feels warmer, the daylight seems brighter, and the darkness has grown shallow.

I'm posting this to share with you if you're in the mud and unable to believe that you'll feel better times.

Many people were taught as children not to express frustration and anger, so here are some

》 Talking with someone you trust. Talking may help you become more clear about what you are feeling. If no one wants to hear your BS try talking out loud to yourself. You can even use a recorder and play back what you've recorded. This helps you hear yourself express your feelings as though you were listening to someone else.

》Writing about your feelings. It may be helpful to make a list of everything that is bothering you. You can then decide which items you can change and write down ways that you can change them. Like if you are worried about children being over exposed, go on a nice hike & spend time getting to know them.

》Recognizing things that you cannot change. There may be things that you can do nothing about. Simply writing them down is often helpful. Reminding yourself that some things are beyond your control also helps. Letting go of the wish that you could change them may be hard to do. You may need to remind yourself daily or many times throughout the day that these things are beyond your control. Especially out of your control, is how people wish to live and love.

》Making changes to help reduce your anger and frustration. For example, if and are triggering to risk criminal records - that will hinder YOUR freedoms... it's time to make changes.

PROS know - change is hard, media pushes naritives that keep chaos as a form of control.
Go take that walk, breeth deeply many times, and seek help from a professional therapist.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

􀀎 Live in Canada

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?
• Review/sign the consent form, complete a form about yourself.
• Attend a 4-hour workshop by Zoom with activities to ask about the topics and information to include in the toolkit.
