“My name is Nicolás and I was an international student in engineering 👨‍💻 at and . I chose to start my degree with the Camosun Engineering Transfer Program because of the support they provided for onboarding and the guaranteed entry to 2nd year of an engineering degree at UVic. I had a great time in my first year at Camosun and always recommend it to friends interested in coming to Canada. From Camosun, I transferred to UVic’s mechanical engineering program. I particularly enjoyed the co-op terms which allowed me to gain work experience, earn some money, and gave me a break from academic work. They are also a great opportunity to explore other cities in Canada and different career paths. During my time at UVic, it was also interesting learning about the different research programs on campus and learning from top experts in their fields. I graduated in June 2024 and I am now working as a mechanical engineer in Greater Vancouver.

🎉 Big news! Camosun College has been awarded $600K in applied-research grants, making us one of the only three institutions in Canada to receive this honor! We’re excited to support local industry innovation and equip our students with real-world skills.

Plans have been unveiled to bring student housing to Camosun College. The announcement a new 423-bed student housing project on the Lansdowne campus is amazing news and would have been possible without the support of Minister and the Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.

The project is expected to be complete and ready for move in for fall 2027!

Hi, my name is Victoria Mendez .mendezl14 I’m 21 years old and originally from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico 🇲🇽

I came to Canada on August of 2022 to start my journey at Camosun College as a student of the Applied Chemistry and Biotechnology program (ACBT). Was it easy? Definitely not, but it wasn’t impossible. I had fantastic instructors all the way through my 5 semesters and lots of help from them, my classmates and the science 🧪 help center.

The ACBT program provided me with LOTS of lab 🥼 experience, and the necessary tools to be able to get a job at a biotechnology lab even months before finishing my last semester.

I had a great experience as a student at , I met so many amazing instructors that helped me gain confidence on myself and my knowledge, classmates with whom I connected with and so many incredible memories and friendships too.

What’s next? Well right now I’m working full time at StressMarq Biosciences as a Laboratory Technician Assistant and I’m planning to go to university for an undergrad in Immunology or Microbiology.

Sport Management students test aerobic fitness levels in the CSI Performance Lab 🏋️‍♀️

The students were hosted by CSI’s Sport Physiologists, Laura Isherwood and Gayatri Raghavan. Laura took the group through a brief presentation introducing technology used to assess aerobic fitness levels in their high-performance athletes called VO2 Max testing.

The data collected in this testing is used to aide in observing training adaptations, identifying maximal sustainable power, and creating training zones to get the most out of the athlete’s programming. This activity connected to lectures around performance analytics, athlete monitoring and injury prevention.

🎥 Digital, Production, Writing and Design Program

In the Digital Production, Writing and Design program at you’ll be using digital media tools to create products to be used in a variety of ways, such as advertising and marketing materials and to tell stories using media tools.

You’ll explore digital video and audio production, web design, digital photography and writing journalism and writing for the web. Supporting courses in interpersonal communication, communication and technology, and mass media will provide the needed background for working in the digital media world

“I am Astrid, I started at Camosun College in September 2022 in the Massage Therapy Program. I already had experience with treating patients as a Manual Osteopath, but the knowledge that I’ve been receiving is beyond my expectations; not just by the quality of information given from my instructors, also their commitment and passion for teaching is admirable.

Through the program I improved my skills and learned more techniques, as well to better communicate with patients. Being able to understand not just the condition that they have but also the environment they live in that impacts their condition, and in this way being able to give a more accurate treatment. This amazing development that I reached at the clinic guided by my instructors, made me the recipient of an award each year.

I’m about to start the last term of the program, and just admitted for the registration exam at CMTBC to become an RMT, knowing that there are many opportunities ahead.

Being at Camosun gave me the opportunity to immerse myself into college life, so I took part in the CSEE student association, and I became the Wellness Director for CCSS for the fall period in 2022, getting to know amazing people and a great environment.

The whole experience of returning to college as a single mother of 2 teenagers, has been enriching by far. In this almost two years living in Victoria I can see my boys growing in many ways, as well as teaching them that there are no limits or age to fulfill your goals in life, just perseverance and will to pursue them”

The Young Building on Camosun’s Lansdowne campus was built between 1913-1915 and designed by Vancouver architect W.C.F. Gillan. It was named after Dr. Henry Esson Young, a community member active in Victoria’s educational community. It was originally built as Victoria’s first Normal School and used as a military hospital during World War II.

Over the years, the building has housed the Victoria Normal School, Victoria College (which later became the University of Victoria), and the Institute of Adult Studies. In 1971, the building became part of Camosun College.

The iconic Young Building is still one of the most photographed spots at Camosun.

Cultural showcase 🌎 🔜

This month, Camosun International will host its annual Cultural Showcase. Featuring performances from domestic and international students, the showcase aims to honour students’ backgrounds and highlight the joy that comes from celebrating diversity.

Now in its 15th year, event organizers Jayanti Bachani and Dana Pankowsky are looking forward to shaking things up. Pankowsky, a Camosun International student experience advisor, is especially excited to share the new format of the show.

“We have a different narrative for this year’s Cultural Showcase, and I don’t want to spoil anything… It has always been a very formal kind of show, this time we want to give it a twist, do something more creative, and give students the chance to decide what they want to do a little bit more,” she says. “So it’s going to be really, really fun and interesting.”

The showcase will be broadcast live on Camosun International’s YouTube channel, so even students far from home can share the performance with their families. Bachani is busy overseeing finishing touches to the show, and is excited to see everyone’s hard work paying off.

The Cultural Showcase will be held at 7:30 pm on Thursday, March 21 in the Gibson Auditorium at Camosun’ s Lansdowne campus.
