The HMCS Oriole. A tall ship and Canada's oldest naval vessel is leaving Esquimalt, B.C., on Thursday to make the approximate 16,000 kilometre journey to Charlottetown for July 1.

The ship is also planning to be in Charlottetown for the Rendezvous 2017 tall ship festival. On its way to Charlottetown, the HMCS Oriole is heading to Panama, through the canal, and then to Bermuda.

Emery Electric was a key contractor in preparing the vessel for it's voyage. Good job guys!

I drove through the parade route this morning and was amazed at the amount of work putting this procession together....It was an emotional drive as I saw many police in different types of uniform and reserve police manning the sides of the road. Juan de Fuca was filled with First Responders and Fire Trucks and Media Trucks. Motorcycle Police were riding the route, Marchers were practicing along with Bag Pipers. Red Balloons are lining the sides of the street...WOW! is all I can say. Wearing Red at Emery Electric. We will be with you in spirit Sarah Beckett!

What you are looking at is the construction of a 400m long duct bank that will provide a new high voltage circuit to the south side substation at the Esquimalt Graving Dock. This may look simple, but it's 5" rigid PVC which is difficult to manage and bend in tight confines. The layout and installation technique you are viewing is what makes these boys some of our best assets.

All of this is simply one of many projects taking place at the graving dock over the next three years which will rehibilitate the 100 year old facility ensuring it functions reliably for the next 100 years.

Stay tuned for for our next post which is the removal, dismantling and refurbishment of the three 1000 horsepower dewatering pumps thats currently underway. Another highly technical Emery Electric project!
