The Filipino community in Greater Victoria is making strides to move forward with plans for a new cultural centre and housing complex. The current Bayanihan Community Centre has outgrown its capacity, largely from the influx of students and graduates deciding to stay in Victoria.
UVic's Philippine Community Club (UPC), an integral part of Continuing Studies at UVic, has been instrumental in providing a supportive community for Filipino students. Since its inception in 2022, UPC has experienced significant growth and has organized events aimed at helping international students feel at home.

🎓 "Celebrating my graduation atop Mount Tolmie (Pkaals) was truly magical. As I stood there, holding my Business Administration diploma from UVic's Continuing Studies, I felt an overwhelming sense of achievement and connection. The panoramic view of Victoria, the peaceful surroundings, with family who flew from the other side of the world, and the feeling of being on top of the world made it the perfect place to reflect on this journey.
To anyone who's been there, or who finds joy in nature's beauty, I hope this resonates. It's a reminder that milestones are not just about the destination, but also about appreciating the journey and the places that make it special.
Here's to all the graduates who choose their own unique spots to celebrate, and to everyone who finds meaning in the places they love."
