In this workshop, we will learn hands-on skills of releasing tension with yin tui na, point combinations to down-regulate the nervous system, and how to address concussions and whiplash, alongside the clinical elements of building communication skills and professional elements of working with ICBC. We will also delve into the common injury patterns from motor vehicle incidents (MVIās) and how acupuncture is an ideal modality for treatment in those cases. Recoveries and return to function include more than the application of technique, so we will also focus on elements of a treatment plan and how to communicate this process to our clients.ā

In this 3-part weekend course, students learn about growing, harvesting (including wild harvesting if applicable to region) and sustainable sourcing of medicinal plants. Discussions consist of at-risk plants from the United Plant Savers list, Development of Good Wild Crafting Practices, land access, and social movements towards sustainable transparent sourcing. ā
ā
The course includes in-class theoretical lectures and discussions, fieldwork for practical methodology, and take-home readings. This course relies heavily on field trips including plant identification and growing at the Peopleās Apothecary, Kristaās permaculture herb garden, and in the forest.
