Whether or not you can join us at an event or four this week, be sure to take breaks, nourish your body and mind, and spend some time in the fresh air

Hi 1Ls! The LSS would like to invite you all to Speed Networking for 1Ls!

On Tuesday, March 21st from 5-7pm in the student lounge, 1L students will have the chance to rotate around a group of upper-year students and ask them career-related advice.

Registration begins on Wednesday, March 8th at 12:30pm PST at this link: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/speed-networking-for-1ls-tickets-576471209907 - due to space capacity, there are only 25 spots available, so make sure to sign up quickly!

There will be upper-year students with a vast array of experiences in the formal 2L summer recruit processes across Canada, as well as in non-big law fields. One hour of speed networking will be followed by the chance to mingle amongst the upper-year students to further conversations and enjoy some delicious food!

THE LSS PRESENTS: Y2K PARTY. 💄🧃🫶🎉🎈🍭🛼🤸🏼‍♂️🌸On Thursday, March 16, the LSS is hosting THE year-end party at the Sticky Wicket, and we invite all UVIC LAW students and their chosen plus ones to attend! Tickets are ONLY $15 (plus a minor Eventbrite processing fee), and include access to a photobooth, pizza, drink specials, a night of mingling and dancing, and an opportunity to channel your best Y2K looks! The 2023 Slaughter Cup is happening this Saturday, March 4th at 3 pm! Although tickets for the VIP Student Experience are sold out, the match itself is free and open to the public!

Students who purchase tickets for the VIP STUDENT EXPERIENCE will gather at Irish Times for a pre-game lunch, then will be transported by bus to Wallace Field for the game, followed by a reception with the players at Swan's Pub!

Before COVID, UVic Law used to have an annual sports tournament and costume contest called BONSPIEL- it was a super fun & hilarious night and a tradition many of our alum remember fondly. This year, we are super stoked to be bringing this back in the form of Dodgespiel, a dodgeball tournament and costume contest! See posts in the Facebook group and in your emails for how to sign up!

Come one come all! In the spirit of Halloween, we invite you to up in your best costume in Monday, and come participate in our lunchtime costume contest! And don’t forget cash for a bake sale which is sure to treat your midterm scarries!

LSS presents: Coffee Break vol. 1!

Hey Fraser!

Your Social Coordinators loved orientation just as much as you. And we want to keep the bonding moments coming!

This Saturday at 2pm, meet us for a chill afternoon in the park with your fellow classmates! It’ll just be time to de-stress after a long week, grab a coffee at a nearby coffee shop, or bring one from home, and get some fresh air. Also- there may be a chance to pet some baby goats.

We will be meeting at the Beacon Hill Park petting zoo at 2pm. See you there Fraser!

Hello UVic Law! First off, I’m sorry for my ~silence~ over the past few weeks as the school year kicked off. The LSS really hit the ground running with 1L orientation, which was a huge success (if I do say so myself!!). But as of now, the LSS instagram is OFFICIALLY back up and running. I wanted to take the chance to introduce myself - if we haven’t met, my name is Sam and I’m the new VP Comms for the 2022/23 school year! Please feel free to DM me any content you want shared with the student body - it’s my job to make sure all of you students know about every opportunity there is available to you, so you can make the most of law school. I also wanted to put a face to the name, because I really encourage you all to please stop me in the halls of Fraser if there is anything you want to see from me or any ways you think we can make communication between the LSS and students smoother or better this year!
