Thank you to Ramir Diaz of the Manitoba Construction Sector Council for meeting with us to discuss ways Premier Personnel can partner with them to promote employment in the construction industry for the people we support.
Our office will be closed on Monday, September 2nd in observance of Labour Day. We will resume our regular business hours on Tuesday, September 3rd.
In 2010, DEAM was first proclaimed in Canada. Manitoba was the first province to issue a proclamation that year, followed by Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Québec, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Nunavut, and Newfoundland and Labrador in ensuing years. Typically, DEAM is celebrated in October, but variations occur in some regions.
Premier Personnel would like to recognize our Summer Employment Program Team. They have been busy doing green space maintenance in a number of parks this summer. Thanks for all your hard work! We hope you gained a lot of practical experience this summer! Thanks to the Naturalist Department for partnering with us.

NDP MP Laurel Collins tabled a bill to make the Canada Disability Benefit and other benefits, including the Disability Tax Credit and disability pensions cover more Canadians. If passed, Collins’s bill will allow any person eligible at the provincial level for a disability tax credit, pension, or benefit to qualify automatically for the same benefits available at the federal level.
DEAM or Disability Employment Awareness Month, was first designated by the United States Congress in October of 1988. It was an extension of the previously acknowledged “National Employ the Physically Handicapped Week” which had been observed the first week of October since 1945. (The word “physically” was removed in 1962 to acknowledge the employment needs and contributions of persons experiencing all types of disability.) It was hoped that extending the time period would increase awareness and employment outcomes for Americans experiencing disability.
Our office will be closed and we will not be providing service on August 5, 2024.
Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day-in, and day-out.

Hugh Emery has been a long-time employee of Premier Personnel and a dedicated team member for an impressive 27 years.
Hugh's motivation to stay with Premier Personnel for such a long period stems from his enjoyment of the work and the people he interacts with daily. He expressed great satisfaction with the support he has received from Premier Personnel over the years, highlighting that he has no complaints about the assistance provided.
This support was particularly evident when Hugh encountered a significant challenge in May 2023. He was involved in an accident that required him to take time off work. During this period, Premier Personnel ensured that Hugh received adequate support and rest, facilitating his recovery.
Despite the challenges, Hugh has found a rhythm that works well in his current role. He is content with the way things are managed. Hugh takes pride in his tasks, particularly in handling baskets and carts, which have become integral to his daily routine. His ability to perform these tasks efficiently underscores his long-term dedication and adaptability.
Hugh appreciates the agency's accommodations and the freedom to work independently. This supportive environment has contributed significantly to his job satisfaction.
When asked to rate the support he receives from Premier Personnel on a scale of one to five, Hugh gave a commendable rating of four. He values the agency's efforts to provide him with the room to do his own thing while ensuring he feels supported and valued.
