Diving into sustainability with ISO 20121 💦
Saturday marked the beginning of the aquatic events, where the world tunes in to see the fastest and most skills swimmers battle it out for gold. This year, with the help of ISO 20121, it's the most sustainable Olympics yet. Why?
👉 The Aquatics Centre is the flagship project for all public buildings in France to use 50% wood or bio-materials.
👉 A giant 5,000m2 solar farm sits on the Aquatics Centre roof, which will provide enough energy for the entire building.
👉 The Seine has undergone major pollution remediation, to not only host the 10km freestyle and the triathlon but reopen for public swimming from 2025 onwards.
👉 Post Olympics, the 6,000-seat Aquatics Centre will be converted into a multi-sport hub for the local community, where currently one in two 11-year-olds do not know how to swim.
